We (Judith, Jurgen & Juliette) are a small family who are trying to build a place to grow old (in the long term that is :)), not only for the three of us, but also for the 3 or 4 families we hope to accommodate on our premises in the future in a cohousing project. Two chickens, a cat (and still a lot of mice), and a dog complete our herd for now. We think it would be great to share our way of living and learn from others. And we hope we can travel-while-at-home when working together with energetic volunteers from all over the world.
We are currently working in the garden (creating a sun terrace).
* June (open 13th - 23th): we'll work on the foundation of one of the parts of our house with recycled materials
* July - August (full): we'll work on the (low) roof of one of the parts of our house with new materials (we plan to be placing the support beams for the roof and a part of the roof in our future shared cinema / yoga / kitchen barn (main construction) and perhaps already some parts of the roof.)
* September (open 1st - 30th): work on the interior of the future shared cinema / yoga / kitchen barn - placing a kitchen, plastering the walls
* October (open 1st - 31st): finishing the interior of the future shared cinema / yoga / kitchen barn
* November (open 1st - 30th): start working a new part of the building
If you want to contribute by keeping our household going, cooking or [any suggestion] that is good too, do let us know your intentions and plans in advance, so we can make sure expectations match.
ps we think being vaccinated against COVID-19 is important for the (vulnerable) people around us, so we can only accommodate and work together with you if you are vaccinated and boostered or if you have had a positive coronatest in the last half year.

We are happy to share all our knowledge on the Dutch culture and language, discuss all we know about sustainable building (never enough, but a good start), architecture and project management. If your skill level is still low: no worries, we can work together on improving it (as we are every day improving our own under-development skills and knowledge).
And ... you would be staying in a real Limburgse Hoeve.

We are working on building a new home for - preferably - a nice group of 4 cohousing families that can live here in the future. While setting up the terrain we could use help with all kinds of (small) tasks in building (carpenting, painting, plumbing, stucco) & maintenance (and further set up) of the garden. Except for the high roofs we want to do everything ourselves and with the help of volunteers. That is also why we keep investigating options that are sustainable and doable for non-experts (such as ourselves). We are always around to work together on the tasks.
A(n initial) stay of (minimum) 1 to (maximum) 2 weeks is preferable for us.

Improving our languages on the job would be excellent, especially our French and Spanish could use some improvement, but training in any language will be fine. We are happy to share our knowledge and train you on the Dutch and English language.
We have a bedroom in the house available for our 1 or 2 (sharing a double bed) volunteer guests or a family with a small kid.
Advice from previous workaway-guest: bring warm indoor shoes :)
We usually work on weekdays between 8:30 and 14:30. Weekends are off unless - of course - you can't help yourself and want to continue with the tasks at hand.
Meals for our volunteers are provided (Dutch breakfast, usually a salad lunch, home-cooked dinner) and we have regular coffee/tea breaks. We close off the working week every Friday with a 'weekendfeestje' with a snack to celebrate the weekend.
The surroundings of where we live in the southern part of Limburg are wonderful (for hiking & biking).
The train station is 15 minutes on foot and the train takes you easily to Maastricht & Aken.
No smoking in the house and buildings (preferably not at all), no drugs, moderate alcohol

We have good wifi (yes in a part of the garden too) and on most of the terrain good 4G too, so digital work in the garden is definitely an option.
Maximum 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week
