Hello! We are Ane Thea and Per Walter, a norwegian couple living with three dogs, a cat, and 10 horses in Gåsbu. I (Ane Thea) am a retired high school teacher, and my husband works as a doctor, and is often away in the north of Norway. We have four daughters who live near and far and visit regularly.
Our youngest daughter has done many workaways and recommended it for us. So we are trying with her help for the first time now! (:Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We live in the middle of a popular area for cross country skiing in winter, and plenty of beautiful hikes in summer. So if you enjoy the outdoors this is the perfect place for you. We live 20 minutes away from Hamar, where you can find cafées, shops and bars, and you can take the train for one hour to visit Oslo. We have plenty of winter clothes, work equipment, skis, skates, etc, that you can borrow.

**SUMMER/FALL UPDATE:
We are looking for workawayers in august, september and october. We need to have our forest cleared of twigs and bushes, it is a big space and a lot of work! All help is welcome!(:
We run a small stable at Gåsbu with icelandic horses. The horses are mainly outside all year around, and roam over a big area of fields and forest. We are looking for someone who is okay to work outside and with animals. Some of the horses have private owners and we ride our own, hence we can not guarantee that you can ride the horses. Our small farm is not a buisness, nor our source of income, it's simply a passion and lifestyle we have chosen.
Depending on the season we are looking for help with feeding horses, walking the dogs in the forest, mucking boxes, cooking, cleaning in the stable or house, and mainly general maintenance all over the property.
In winter shoveling snow (there's a lot of it, we usually have snow from October/November until April/May)
In summer mucking fields, forest and pasture maintenance.
There is plenty of work to do that does not require previous experience working with animals, as long as you're open to learn. We are looking for different types of help depending on what you wish to do or learn! (:Idiomas

I (Ane Thea) used to teach norwegian in high school, and would love to help you learn. We both want to learn french.Alojamiento
We will provide you with a private room in the house. All meals are provided, for breakfast and lunch you serve yourself in the kitchen. For dinner we take turns cooking, and depending on our schedules we eat together or separately.
We of course have towels, toiletries, bedding, etc.Algo más...
We expect the workawayer to work around 20-25 hours a week. How you spread your hours throughout the week we don't mind, and if you want specific days off that is no problem. Working with animals and different projects somedays may be longer, and some days there isn't much to do, hence the schedule is flexible.
On your free time you can visit the area, go for hikes or go skiing. We live close enough for weekend or daytrips to for example Oslo or Lillehammer.Un poco más de información
