Hey! I’m a workawayer writing this on the behalf of Jehane, the creator of the project. She’s an 87 year old woman who has a lot of life to live, and a lot of stories to tell. The project is a place of simple living and learning. It’s located an hour outside of Vegas near Tecopa, CA. It sits outside Death Valley, so hot days and starry nights await you.

Experiencing living in nature is very different than a camping trip. You will learn skills, approaches, understanding that only possible when you let go of the impositions of civilizations and fully embrace a natural environment.
Learn about solar energy production. Unique recycling and repurposing techniques. Growing food, and creative cooking. Earth architecture.
We have a host of different tasks we perform daily:
- household/cooking/cleaning
- Carpentry
- Feeding chicken
- Caring for/harvesting plants
- Electrical work
- Earth building
- General maintenance
- Auto repair
- Plumbing

The accommodations here are as follows:
-Outdoor Hot Water Shower (uses a solar heated bladder)
-Dry toilet1
-Sleeping arrangements are camping like a combination or tents, RVs and other structures.
-An outdoor kitchen with dish ware and cutlery, with access to fully equipped indoor kitchen
-A variety of dry food like grains and beans, and store bought fruits and vegetables
-A few coolers, some built into the earth, to store cold items, Fridges and freezer with hot weather time.
Available camp or park
We have earth stoves and fire pit or sun oven cooking.
- Hiking in the desert and nearby hills and mountains
- Rock climbing in red Rock Canyon
- A dry lakebed, very unique feature!
- Old, abandoned mining sites to explore,
- Hot springs at Tecopa
- Death Valley National Park is about n hour drive
- Water fall and cold water river at China Ranch and Amargosa trails
- Slot Canyons
- Lake Mead

For those of us who live in this bit of desert, we cherish this great silence and space. A chance to become close with oneself , body, mind, spirit, time to listen to one's own muses, creativity, good ideas and perhaps become a better listener for others.
