Updated: We can welcome workaway people from March 2024! Until then our accommodation is not ready for you.
==================
Hello, guys! My husband Gabriel and I, Ally, have two young children, and we have realised Gabriel needs some hands-on help to help us achieve our homesteading/farmsteading dreams whilst my hands are busy with our Little Ones! We purchased seven hectares of land in 2021 and are building everything from scratch. Our dream is to live on the hill and leave a beautiful business behind for our children to grow from.
We currently live 20 minutes walk away, in the local village, with Gabriel's mother, Marcela. Gabriel goes to the homestead daily to tend to our goat herd, which will be around 60 goats when you arrive. We drink delicious goat's milk and make goat's cheese, all of which you will witness and enjoy. We have beautiful dreams of living on the homestead and starting a business, but without help, we may not see them eventuate any time soon, which is why we will welcome you so very well should you come to stay!
Gabriel's background is professional cheffing, and mine is private cheffing, as well as holistic health coaching. Our business plans centre around our skill sets, as you can imagine! But we wanted to connect to the essence of life, and we knew to do this, we needed to "get back to the roots" and learn about food and community sufficiency from the ground up. Unfortunately, it's the community we are missing, as we live in a village with primarily older people, all of whom need Gabriel's help but can't help him in return. Before moving home to Gabrie's home village, we worked in London, and I was cheffing on private sail yachts worldwide.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We live in a village in Southern Romania. Whilst there is a town ten minutes drive away for all shopping needs, we don’t often visit as it’s nothing to write home about! The beauty is in the countryside, the rolling hills and the views of mountains far away. The village we live in is very Romanian and traditional; all residents are growing food, if not the majority of their food, from animals to vegetables to animal feed. It is a peasants' village, so that you will meet people from a very rustic, no fuss, “did it all myself” walk of life. Everyone in these areas is pretty self-sufficient because they’ve had to be. We live with my mother-in-law while waiting for our plans on the homestead to eventuate. My mother-in-law, Marcela, is a fantastic gardener who grows all of her food, cooks on fire in a traditional tuci (with a gas stove as back-up), and cans and preserves bucketloads of food each season for the winter time. Over winter, pigs will be sacrificed, which is a fantastic few days to experience, watching how traditional people use an animal from nose to tail. Truly, nose-to-tail — they waste nothing. It is important to introduce Marcela because she will be the head chef during your stay, and she cooks nothing but traditional Romanian food, all of which is hearty, nutritious and homegrown/homemade. Can you ask for anything healthier than that?

When we purchased the land, it was bare. Neither of us holds conventional jobs, so due to minimal income, we use many upcycled materials, second-hand finds, hand-overs, etc. We need to build a home for us, possibly some rental cabins, enclosures for animals, propagate a water source, clear land, plant vineyards, plant and harvest animal feed, start a garden, and more!
We are only interested in permaculture / regenerative agriculture / biodynamic farming methods and principles, all that we are still learning ourselves. We need help mainly for DIY/Building projects, so if you have a handy hand or a particular skill, that’s a bonus!Idiomas hablados

OFF-GRID and PEACEFUL CABIN
Gabriel has built a small cabin that will be yours for your stay. It is situated amongst the trees halfway up on the homestead. We will reside in the village with our mother-in-law during your stay. Your cabin is entirely off-grid, so showers/baths will be in a tub with water warmed up on either the gas stove or fire. Yes, we will include a gas stove, as perhaps you’d also like to cook something for yourself, and ingredients we can supply from Marcela’s farm. You will have a comfortable bed, light, solar electricity, and good wifi. We will also leave a BOSE music speaker for your enjoyment! Please be aware that you’re in the country, and if it’s peak summer, be prepared for insects. We will have fly screens on the doors, but if you like specific mosquito repellant, be sure to bring that for the evenings. It tends to be cool very early in the morning and evenings, and the days can be scorching, so you’ll either find a cosy, cool nook in the forest to relax and read in or rest in your Casa.Algo más...
Around our area has monasteries, churches, a fantastic salt mine, and vineyards to visit. Further away, there are hikes, mountain ranges and beautiful walks. You will need a car to reach these destinations as we do not have one. There is also a beautiful town called Sibiu, which is a 2.5-hour drive from us and worth visiting during your stay. Perhaps you will take a few days off working with us and stay in an rental there to explore those mountain ranges, too. You are welcome to leave and come back depending on what you organise with Gabriel.

Yes, but we do have five dogs on the property/land where you will be staying, so we will need to discuss in advance the realities and safety.
