    Hola!

    We invite you to a true cultural exchange, working in the garden, learning, and teaching about permaculture while exchanging your time and knowledge with a group of Wayüu (an indigenous community) children in Palomino, Colombia.

    Located within the Caribbean coast and the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Palomino is a magical village surrounded by amazing landscapes, full of culture, music, and unique experiences. The Wayüus is one of the 5 different indigenous cultures calling this place home.

    Our project works as a cultural exchange project with a focus on sustainable living and agriculture. We work with a group of Wayüu children, ages 4 to 12, teaching them how to grow their own food while at the same time providing a wider spectrum of goals and opportunities socially, educationally, and professionally.

    We are looking for volunteers from all over the world, interested in helping in the garden while developing an educational or permaculture project for our children to enjoy and learn from. From English to music lessons, dance, sports, pretty much anything goes. In exchange, we offer accommodation in a private room. If this is full, we can also provide space for tents and RVs. Both options have kitchen access and a shared bathroom.

    We are located in one of the main neighborhoods of Palomino, within a walking distance of the river, the beach, all kinds of convenience stores, and the main roads where you’ll find restaurants and bars.

    Known as the hippiest town on the Colombian coast, Palomino is well known for its beautiful landscapes, thriving cultural scene, and parties until the sun comes up. Whether you’re looking to socialize or simply spend some quiet time, this small, but thriving backpacker town has anything you can ask for.

    We offer a cultural exchange with a group of wayüu kids, an opportunity to practice your Spanish, learn about permaculture and sustainable agriculture techniques.

    We need people with experience in agriculture and permaculture to help with our garden. We also have room for people willing to teach and share their knowledge through various activities with our children.

    We ask participants to propose an educational, or permaculture project (i.e. english lessons, music teaching, environmental education...) to work on for a minimum of 3 weeks in exchange for accommodation.
