I have been staying at Equus for 4 months during the 2021 season and it was a wonderful experience. This is the best place to work if you love horse riding, nature and tourism activity. I was working with a really great team which made those 4 months very fun. Our job was mostly to take tourist on rides, around the farm or during a 1 week trail.
… read more The good thing at the farm is that we always do something different every day, it's not the same routine very week. That way you can learn to do a lot of things around the farm and with the horses. When we didn't have guest, we were training the horses ourselves by making rides, without any tourist which is really good so that we can have more fun with the horses.
I had prejudices before I arrive because I was afraid of how the horses would be treated in a riding center in Romania. But I was absolutely wrong, Barbara and the guides team make sure that every horse is in good condition, physically and mentally every single day. Each horse has a working schedule so that they won't work too much (or not enough) and it is adapted to each horse.
Your day at Equus usually starts when you wake up and ends when you go to bed, it is long days but it wasn't a problem for me. I am used to work on farms and I am really not used to count my working hours. We had 1 day off per week and we could borrow a car to visit or to go hiking. The people you are working with really make the difference I think because of the intensity of your days. I was lucky to be surrounded by really nice people (stable guys, cooks, cleaners). We were eating with the guests (and serving dinner) so the cooks were also cooking for us and it was amazing.
To sum up, it was an unforgettable experience and I would do it again anytime.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

I stayed with Barbara and Christoph for three months this spring and had such an amazing time there. I can really recommend this place, especially if you are an experienced rider, love nature and like working together in a team! No day was the same. The daily activities were dependent on if we had guests at the farm, but were mostly training the
… read more horses (by doing hacks in the beautiful hills surrounding the farm), taking guests out on rides as a guide or back-up guide, giving riding lessons, garden work, helping out in the kitchen, taking care of the farm animals and additional stuff like medical care and doing grocery shopping.
The working hours are definitely a lot more than described, but that was no problem for me. There's a really nice Romanian team (stable boys, cleaners, cook that makes amazing food) and a group of young people coming from different European countries to share the work load with. On our days off (once a week), we could take a car to visit nearby places when available. The national park Piatra Craiului for example is really close to the farm and beautiful to hike in. But actually, all nature in this part of Romania is amazing and it was so cool seeing it change from end of winter to beginning of summer when I was there.
The horses are well taken care of. They are divided into a few groups and get to choose whether they want to be inside or outside. There's a morning and a night check every day ensuring they're okay and fit for the endurance-style riding. It's mostly Arabian(-type) and Hungarian breeds, making them forward-going and strong horses, a lot of them equipped with big but sweet personalities :)Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
