With great gratitude that I write this letter of reference for Catherine, who has been by far the most outstanding and value-added WorkAway volunteer I’ve ever had the privilege of hosting and this is no exaggeration!
Catherine is an exceptionally hard worker, always giving 150% to every task. Whether she was cleaning stalls, caring for animals,
… read more organizing the home, or assisting in building projects, her work was thorough, efficient, and completed with an eye for detail. Her cleaniness , if you ask her to clean something it's spotless. Never needed supervision always find her working hard. Very rare quality and it allowed me to do other things.
She approaches everything with eagerness and a genuine desire to learn. Her ability to take instruction, ask thoughtful questions, and adapt quickly made her an absolute pleasure to teach and work alongside.
We shared making meals and Her meals were not only delicious and so much flavor, and beautifully presented, but they became the highlight of our days. Every dinner was a special event—complete with an artfully set table and an atmosphere of warmth and care. Her presence turned simple mealtimes into joyful celebrations, and we all looked forward to every night she prepared the dinner.
Catherine’s character is equally impressive. She is kind, respectful, highly intelligent, and deeply considerate. Her conversations are thoughtful, engaging, and uplifting. She consistently expressed appreciation for every part of her experience, and her positive attitude brought so much light into our days. Her uplifting presence brought genuine joy to my heart.
I personally learned a great deal from her, and her impact will be felt long after her time here. Catherine added immense value both personally and professionally, and I truly look forward to maintaining a long-term connection with her.
If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to host Catherine, I urge you to welcome her with open arms. You will be enriched by her presence, and your projects will benefit greatly from her exceptional spirit and work ethic.
With heartfelt appreciation—thank you, Catherine, from the bottom of my heart. I wish you all the best in your wonderful journey ahead.

I stayed with Larissa from the 13th of October till the end of november (2024)
It’s best to discuss your arrival with Lara before booking any flight tickets so she can help you with that.
There’s a small airport nearby (Anahim Lake), but the plane was fully booked so she suggested to take a flight to Williams Lake.
Upon arrival I was welcomed by
… read more Lara and her dogs and we took off to a beautiful car ride to her house in Nimpo Lake.
Also the views from the plane (Pacific Coastal Airlines) were stunning, as it flew at a low altitude through the beautiful landscape.
You get a nice overview of British Columbia so I’d highly recommend.
The property is very nice and consist of different buildings (Mechanic shop/ bakery, sheds/storage and the house)
There is always multiple things to do at the property so basically you can choose what you want to do for work. I helped with organising, carpentry, assembly,…there is a lot of equipment, tools and spare parts available.
I really liked doing my daily routine jobs. I got up in the morning and started the fire in the basement or did some wood-splitting and stacking in the afternoon.
Lara has a well equipped kitchen and fully stocked pantry.
So if you like to cook or bake there is everything you need. (but keep in mind that fresh vegetables are not so easy to get in these remote area’s).
In the evenings I had good meals like steaks, chicken, turkey,.. the food is of very good quality!
I had the opportunity to come with Lara to Whistler, we stayed there for a week.
I really liked these road trips, It’s a good way to see the different types of landscapes (and weather) of British Columbia.
We also went to Williams Lake to shop and stayed there for about 4 days.
I met some nice people on these trips and learned a lot about the culture.
In summary:
- Stunning landscape
- Good food
- Flexible working hours
- Well equipped
- Very remote but there’s still some other people in the area.
Thank you Lara for this great experience!

So much to say… and yet, it will never feel like enough!
Lara greeted me with such warmth and kindness from the very second I stepped through her door!
You can be sure that this force of nature will give without counting, and teach you everything you wish to know about a wild Canadian lifestyle — all while living in a beautifully wood-heated home
… read more during winter, and basking in the bright sun when summer finally opens its doors.
Whether you’re a lumberjack at heart, a crafty hands-on person, an animal lover like me, or simply someone seeking the peace that comes with working outdoors… Lara is without a doubt the one you should turn to!
The wealth of knowledge she carries will only spark your desire to learn more — not just about the new skills awaiting you, but also about the fascinating person that is Larissa.
Believe me, you’ll absolutely want to stay around the table until 11 p.m., trying to win at Ticket to Ride (board game), surrounded by sincere laughter and a warm cup of hot chocolate!
Here, you’ll have your own room — cozy and charmingly furnished — making you feel truly at home. And as I write these words, I realize that with Lara, I genuinely feel at home, without even missing my family… so thank you, sincerely, for that, Lara — my dear friend.
In this house, dogs and humans are equals, and the hearty meals that will warm your belly… well, her three adorable dogs will get their fair share too!
There is so much to learn here, and if you’re the kind of person eager to grow or develop new skills, don’t hold back!
You certainly won’t be disappointed by the many activities awaiting you during your stay: fishing (even ice fishing!), bonfires on the lake… and on solid ground too ;), archery, rifle shooting (safely, of course ;)), hikes on foot or by quad — always accompanied by her three dogs: Honey, Salt, and Pumpkin.
Having spent nearly 5 months with her, trust me when I say — no matter how long you plan to stay, you won’t regret it!
With that, I wish all the happiness to my sincere and dear friend, Lara.Dejado por el anfitrión para el workawayer (Leelou)
Leelou was an absolute blessing to have here. She is incredibly hardworking, independent, and able to take initiative without needing supervision. Every task she took on, she completed with excellence, care, and a fantastic attitude. No fuss, no complaints — just consistent, high-quality work.
Leelou has an amazing gift with animals. Watching her
… read more work with my three sheep and two goats and rabbits was nothing short of inspiring. Her natural way with animals is truly special. Her dog, Pomme, is equally wonderful — so sweet, well-trained, and a joy to have around. Both I and my three girl dogs will deeply miss him.
Leelou’s strong, independent spirit, can be challenging but she is dedicated, and her kindness left a lasting impression. I can’t recommend her highly enough. In fact, I’m sending her information to all my friends! Anyone lucky enough to host Leelou will be truly blessed and get a lot done!!
Thank you, Leelou your very special and I wish you an amazing journey forward.Comentarios

I stayed with Lara for a week with some other workawayers. The work was fun and Lara trusted us with everything, we shared some nice meals and desserts and she provided anything I asked for as a vegan. I lived with Larissa for six weeks between December and January and it was incredibly eventful. During the week we worked on lots of building projects and at the weekend we did all kinds of crazy things.
Larissa lives alone with her four wonderful and energetic dogs. Larissa was always very caring and respectful. I had my own little room in the
… read more house where my privacy was very much respected. We always cooked something together in the mornings and evenings and worked together outside during the day. We completed smaller projects, such as insulating the generator room or painting the bakery. But we also had a big project where we built a whole garage. I got to know Mike and his son, who are also super nice, and I won't forget them soon. Other tasks were trail cutting or splitting firewood.
At the weekend we were often out on the ATV, hunting, ice fishing, or snowmobiling. Walking the dogs on the ATV every day was also a lot of fun.
It's important to mention that Nimpo-Lake is very remote and a tiny community in Canada. Many are very religious, and the community has its own rules. In my time, we had frequent visits from friends from Whistler or visited friends, which made it more varied for me.
In summary, my time with Larissa was very unique and life there is fundamentally different compared to life in the city.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
