Descripción
We are primarily a water sports resort focusing mainly on kite surfing - We are located in a small traditional village in a fairly isolated region in the North West of Sri Lanka.
We employ exclusively from the local village which has a largely unsophisticated demographic.
Our resort is right on the lagoon / ocean front.
Our main clientele is inbound tourists coming to either learn or participate in Kite surfing.

You will be located in a very traditional village with minimal tourist impact other than a couple of kite resorts on the lagoon. Your interaction with staff will be local villagers thirsty for knowledge with little English!

After initially being a bit disheartened by the WaW experience (No shows - Walk aways etc) we had very good experiences with Neghmah, Shiva, Azi and Amine, all very professional and committed and restored my faith! They all contributed hugely to our digital profile and impact - Thank you all.
Having had my faith restored I am now motivated to expand the areas we can offer, keeping in mind I will not use workaway as a substitute for employing local staff - I will only use work away for specific skillsets not available in our local area, so 3 areas I have identified;
1. We are looking for digital platform skills particularly, input for SEO - and website search engine enhancement. This can be a short term arrangement.
2. We seek someone who can operate our 'Spa' room - to give therapeutic and rehabilitative massage for kitesurfers before and after a long days kiting - This could include sunscreen application pre kiting - After sun treatment - post a days kiting - sports injury treatment and rehabilitation - Application of any other "Spa" treatments you may be able to undertake. We are prepared to pay a commission on this work. This position would be available between May and October 2025. We would be looking at a minimum commitment of 6-8 weeks. Ideally this person canmulti task with content creation for our social media.
3. We have a restaurant, staffed by local cooks and kitchen hands, providing excellent local cuisine, albeit tailored to the 'foreign taste', they have limited exposure and skills in 'foreign' cuisine for which there is a demand in our area - we have a plan to set up a small 10-12 seat poolside restaurant, catering not only to our in-house guests but also from the surrounding region - perhaps in a fusion BBQ concept (open to suggestion) where by a staff is trained in our menu from the in house restaurant - Again we would be looking at a 2-3 month commitment in order to provide some continuity - We have a large vegetable garden, that staff look after, so would be happy if guidance could be given to grow 'greens' that enhance the cuisine of this reataurant - Again we are prepared to provide commission for this position.
Guest relations in a tourist environment is an advantage as is an ability to expand our kitchen staffs cuisine options (see under accommodation) but this skill is secondary to our requirement for the above paragraphs.

Depending on occupancy a Private Garden Bungalow with private bathroom or Two room Garden Bungalow with a shared bathroom - fan - plug points and bed and bedding.
Food is provided as for a normal guest.
It is expected that a successful applicant will ‘teach’ the kitchen staff a meal from their ‘home’ cuisine to broaden the staffs repertoire - this is best done by supervising and teaching one evening meal a week with the staff in the preparation of a guest meal
