We’re Fleur and Hans, and last year we became the proud owners of a charming 150-year-old Swedish red wooden brewery right next to our home. The brewhouse is still in great condition, but it hasn’t produced beer in over 75 years — and rather than restarting production, our goal is simply to preserve this unique place for future generations.

We regularly spend time caring for and maintaining the building ourselves, and we enjoy sharing this experience with others. If you like practical, hands-on activities and are curious about traditional buildings and local heritage, this can be a meaningful and enjoyable experience to be part of.

We’re based in the heart of Småland, in Sweden’s beautiful “Crystal Kingdom,” surrounded by forests, lakes, and renowned glass workshops. It’s an ideal setting to combine light practical activities with exploring the area and enjoying nature.

If you’re curious to experience Swedish life, be part of preserving a small piece of history, and maybe hear a few local stories from the home region of Pippi Longstocking, you’re very welcome to join us.

We really enjoy the cultural exchange that comes with hosting. We share meals together, and you’ll have your own room to relax and feel at home. If you’re curious, we’re happy to spend time together and introduce you to Swedish life — from everyday habits to food, traditions, and the rhythm of the seasons.

We live in a region full of character, and there’s plenty to explore. You can visit nearby glassblowing workshops, discover the stories and craftsmanship of the Crystal Kingdom, or head out into the forests of Småland — landscapes filled with lakes, wildlife, and old local sagas. Amd maybe thanks to you we discover new ”smultronställe” (hidden gems as the Swedes call it).

Whether it’s cooking together, going for a walk in the woods, or exploring the area, there’s a lot to experience here beyond the project itself.

    Ayuda

We enjoy spending time maintaining and caring for the old brewery ourselves, and we’re always happy to have a few extra hands join us. There are ongoing small-scale tasks, both outside and inside, such as light maintenance, simple repairs, and general upkeep — all done together and at a relaxed pace.

We’re not professionals, and this isn’t a commercial project — it’s something we do to preserve the building for the future. For any larger or more technical work, we rely on local skilled tradespeople.

We aim for a good balance between a few hours of practical help and enjoying the surroundings. Think shared meals, coffee breaks, exploring the area, and time to relax — it’s about the experience, cultural exchange, and spending time together as much as the work itself.

    Alojamiento

We live in a charming villa from 1896, full of character and history. As our guest, you’ll have your own private room, along with access to tje kitcheb, a shared TV room and a spacious combined living and dining area — perfect for relaxing, reading, or spending time together.

Within walking distance, you’ll find a local bakery, a small supermarket, and a cozy summer café, as well as one of Sweden’s most well-known glass workshops. There’s also a nearby lake that’s perfect for a refreshing swim on warm summer days. We share our home with two small dogs who absolutely love attention and will happily keep you company.

    Algo más...

Our home is just a short car ride from the local train station, making it easy to explore beyond the village. You can hop on a direct train to nearby cities like Växjö and Kalmar, or set off on a longer adventure to Copenhagen or Gothenburg — both around 2.5 hours away. Even Stockholm is within reach, about 4 hours away with a simple connection along the way.

It’s the perfect starting point for discovering more of Sweden (and even Denmark) while you’re here — and we’re happy to pick you up from or drop you off at the station.
