  We are a small family living in Northern Norway about 50 km outside of Tromsø, 300km above the arctic circle. We live in an old farmhouse and have two islandic horses, two cats and a few chicken. I am working at the university in Tromsø, my daughter is interested in craft and design and started an education in this direction. The winters are long with lots of snow and northern lights and the summers are short, not too warm with midnight sun. We have mountain ranges all around us and a view to the sea and mountains.
  We are interested in learning languages and getting to know other cultures, we like cooking, DIY projects, hiking and of course horse riding, but even more just being with our animals and enjoying their company.
  We are fluent in English, German and Norwegian and learn Italian and French, I learned some Russian at school and some Japanese for fun.

  Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje

  We like to get to know other cultures, meet new people, be inspired for our projects. Everything is more fun when doing things together. We are interested in and know a lot of crafting techniques, especially related to textiles but we also like to do some pottery ad wood works. We have some old spinning wheels and looms on the farm and my daughter learned to color textiles with natural colors (we can unfortunately only do that in summer).
  We try to do a lot of ground work with the horses but would like to get inspired with new fun ways of working with our two very curies horses.

  Ayuda

  In winter (which starts in October and ends in May), we mainly need help with the horses, feeding them and cleaning of the stable and paddock and motioning them if you want and have experience with it. We could always use help with small repairs and there are always some DIY projects on the way.
  In summer, (sometimes starting in May, sometimes in June and lasting until some time in September) we could use help with setting up fences for the horses and with gardening projects (ecological garden with vegetables and fruits, sometimes also with fiber and colouring plants, depending on how much time we have) and some light help, like e.g. painting.

  Alojamiento

  We have a small room with one bed (and can setup another) and a table with a nice view over the Fjord at the side of the living room that is separated only by curtains at the moment. The plan is however to install a folding door (which is one of the DIY projects) to have a better separation. With progressing renovation of the house more accommodation space will be available.
  You can eat with us as a family. We mainly have vegetarian meals.

  We live a bit out of town but there is a bus once a day to Tromsø and back. There are a lot of outdoor possibilities close by (fishing, hiking, horse back riding).

  The guest room has a small desk and we have a good internet connection, sufficient for video calls.
