  We - my two daughters and I (although my girls are stretching their wings and not here all the time) - are living on a small organic farm in the east of Styria, Austria. We bought the house 20 years ago and renovated it with straw bales and clay plastering. The clay came directly from our front porch. Additional to the house we maintain 6.500 m² land, filled with orchards, berries and a vegetable/herb garden. We are happy to see more and more animals coming to our little ark.
  Permaculture is a fascinating way to work in teamwork with nature. Step by step we learn more about it, working with Mother Earth and her little helpers in compost, EM (effective microorganism) and other animals - absolutely free of genetic engineering.
  We welcome lovers of garden and wilderness (and the combination of it).
  Workaway ist an opportunity for us to get more familiar what it means to live and work as a community.
  Especially in summer we love to sit beside the bonfire to make bread on a stick, sing, chat and just enjoy mild summer evenings. We are looking forward to showing you Austrian culture and practice your German with us, as well as you can make us happy in bringing the world to us, in all its diversity.
  My main job is with a NGO in the social field in for about 3 days a week.
  
  Wir - meine beiden Kinder, die momentan eher flügge sind und ich – leben auf einem kleinen Biobauernhof in der Oststeiermark, den wir vor 20 Jahren erworben und dann ökologisch saniert haben – mit Strohballen gedämmt und grundeigenem Lehm verputzt. Wir haben 6.500 qm Land, die wir hüten dürfen. Aktuell gibt es viele Streuobstbäume, Beeren und einen Gemüse- und Kräutergarten. Aufmerksam beobachten wir welche neuen Arten unsere Nische nutzen. Wir sind sehr an der Idee der Permakultur interessiert und versuchen diese Baustein für Baustein zu integrieren – mithilfe der Natur (EM und Kompost) und absolut frei von Gentechnik! Garten und Wildnissliebhaber sind sehr willkommen. Es gibt immer viel zu tun und noch mehr Visionen.
  Mit dem Workaway möchten wir unsere Vision des gemeinsamen Wohnens und Werkelns näher kommen.
  Wir freuen uns sowohl Menschen begrüßen zu dürfen, denen wir unsere Sprache und Kultur näher bringen können als auch darüber, dass Menschen uns die große Welt in ihrer Vielfalt ins Haus bringen – gleich welcher Generation.
  Gerne sitzen wir an unserem Lagerfeuer im Outdoorwohnzimmer.
  
  Hauptberuflich bin ich bei einer NGO im Sozialbereich tätig. Dazu bin ich an drei Tagen in der Woche nicht vor Ort.

  If you come here you can experience life in a rural area. You can learn about gardening, biodiversity, foraging, natural medicine an many more things. We would love to welcome you in our life and exchange experiences how to live in tune with mother earth.
  
  Bei uns kannst du das Leben am Land kennen lernen. Du kannst einiges über Gartenarbeit, Biodiversität, Vorratshaltung mit der Natur, Naturmedizin und einiges mehr lernen.
  Wir freuen uns auf Gespräche wie wir z. B. was es heißt in Einklang mit der Natur zu leben.

  We are thankful if you help us in the following tasks according to your preferencies.
  - The garden(weeding, lawn mowing, harvest and processing of fruits to reach a higher selfsufficency)
  - household (cleaning, maintenance, store firewood)
  - realise bigger projects; such as fencing, making terraces for planting - the ideas keep coming :)
  - animal care - our pets would be glad to get even more attention, Jodok (the dog) is happy to accompany you on your adventures around the countryside
  - sharing knowledge on sustainability, selfsufficency and a low impact lifestyle.
  You won't be engaged in tasks relating to our small farmbusiness.
  
  It's always nice to work together, even such things as cleaning are way more fun if done together. So let’s see what evolves in working in community.
  
  Wir sind dankbar Hilfe zu bekommen bei - entsprechend deiner Vorlieben.
  • Im Garten (Unkraut jäten, Mähen, Ernte und deren Verarbeitung für die Selbstversorgung)
  • Haus (Putzen, Instandhaltung und Feuerholz vorbereiten)
  • Verwirklichung von größeren Projekten wie Zaunbau, Terrassierung – die Ideen gehen uns nicht aus.
  • Tiere – unsere Tiere sind sehr liebesbedürftig – der Hund freut sich über Spaziergänge!
  • Austausch in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit, Selbstversorgung und einem bescheidenen Lebensstil
  Du wirst auf keinen Fall mit Arbeiten betraut werden, die mit unserer bäuerlichen Vermarktung zu tun hat.
  
  Es macht mir immer gleich mehr Spaß in Gesellschaft Arbeiten anzugehen .

  Alojamiento

  There is a cosy room in the house for you. In the room is a double bed. Shared bathroom.
  If you want to camp we can provide high voltage for camping. Of course, you can use the bathroom in the house :) Other possibilities are still in progress. We eat vegan and so our storage is full of food to cook with. Kitchen is free to be used.
  We don't smoke and drink rarely alcohol.
  
  Im Haus steht ein gemütlich Raum zur Verfügung. Ansonsten gibt es Möglichkeiten für Camping mit und ohne Stromanschluss. An weiteren Möglichkeiten wird gearbeitet.
  Gerne seid ihr im Wohnzimmer und der Küche gesehen. Duschen ist im Haus möglich.
  Wir ernähren uns vegan – dafür ist in unseren Vorratsräumen vorgesorgt. Die Küche steht für gemeinsames oder abwechselndes Kochen zur Verfügung. Für uns ist gesundes Essen ein zentrales Thema – wir sitzen gerne zu den Hauptmahlzeiten gemeinsam am Tisch. Wir rauchen nicht und trinken so gut wie keinen Alkohol – das ist uns bei unseren workawayern auch wichtig!

  Our land is organically certified. In our house are quite a few books, ranging from literature to traditional knowledge of basket weaving. Mostly German but also a few in English (eg Mary Reynolds books).
  We live between Vienna and Graz. By car it takes 50 minutes to Graz an 1 hour 20 to Vienna. Hartberg which ist a nice small town is just 7 km away - there you can get the Bus or train to get to Graz and Vienna.
  We can offer you a bicycle to explore the surroundings.
  There is another nature resevatory with a beautiful naturally meandering river
  
  Unser Hof ist biozertifizieit. Da wo wir leben ist nicht viel los – wer die Ruhe liebt ist hier richtig - Dafür gibt es eine große Auswahl an Büchern:)
  Wir leben zwischen Wien und Graz. Mit dem Auto sind es nach Graz ca. 50 min nach Wien ca. 1 Stunde 20. Hartberg welches ca. 7 km von uns entfernt ist, ist eine kleine sympathische Provinzstadt. Von dort gehen auch die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel nach Graz und Wien. Natürlich kannst du die Umgebung auch mit einem zur Verfügung stehenden Fahrrad erkunden.
