Hello, my name is Alain,
I'm originally from Switzerland and I've lived in Tartane for over 20 years.
I host travelers in a large house with a garden and several guest accommodations.
I don't have any paid staff on site
What I offer Workawayers:
A cultural exchange stay:
3 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, in exchange for private accommodation.
Tasks are geared towards learning and support:
garden maintenance, small DIY projects, helping to welcome visitors, and sharing local practices. Workawayers will not replace paid staff; they will be supported and, if desired, trained for certain tasks to learn new skills.

- Location:
Tartane is part of La Trinité.
The house is a 5-minute walk from a small beach called La Brèche.
Anse l'Étang beach is 15 minutes away, and Surfers' Beach is 30 minutes away.
Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
Buses run during the week, but a car is recommended to explore more of the island.
- Conditions:
No staff replacement tasks; strict adherence to local labor laws.

je m’appelle Alain,
je suis d origine Suisse et j’habite à Tartane depuis plus de 20 ans
J’accueille des voyageurs dans une grande maison avec jardin et plusieurs logements pour les visiteurs.
Je n’ai pas de personnel rémunéré sur place.
Ce que je propose aux Workawayers
- Un séjour d’échange culturel :
3 heures d’aide par jour, 5 jours par semaine, en échange d’un logement privé.
Tâches orientées apprentissage et soutien :
entretien du jardin, petits travaux de bricolage, aide à l’accueil des visiteurs, partage de pratiques locales. Les Workawayers ne remplaceront pas de personnel rémunéré ; ils seront accompagnés et, si souhaité, formés pour certaines tâches afin d’apprendre de nouvelles compétences.
Ce que vous apprendrez et vivrez ici
- Immersion locale :
conversations quotidiennes, découverte de la vie insulaire, balades sur la presqu’île de la Caravelle, pratique du français si vous le souhaitez. Planche de surf a dispo, il y a souvent des surfeurs qui logent chez moi et un esprit Zen règne sur la maison.
- Partage de savoirs :
je peux vous transmettre mes connaissances sur la région, le jardin, la faune locale l’entretien de la maison et des recettes de cuisine antillaises.
- Atmosphère familiale :
souvent un apéritif ou un repas est annoncé et ensembles, Workawayers et clients sont invités à se joindre selon leur envie, pour partager de bons moments et se sentir intégrés a la famille.

- Emplacement :
Tartane est rattaché à La Trinité, la maison est à 5 minutes à pied d’une petite plage nommée la Brèche.
La plage de l anse l’étang est à 15mn et la plage des surfeurs à 30mn.
Commerces et restaurants sont accessibles à pied.
Un Bus passe en semaine, une voiture est recommandée pour explorer davantage l’île.
- Conditions :
pas de tâches de remplacement de personnel ; respect strict des lois locales du travail.

What you will learn and experience here:
Local immersion: daily conversations, discovering island life, walks on the Caravelle peninsula, and practicing your French if you wish.
A surfboard is available.
There are often surfers staying with me, and a Zen atmosphere pervades the house.
- Knowledge sharing:
I can share my knowledge of the region, the garden, local wildlife, house maintenance, and Caribbean recipes.
- Family atmosphere:
An aperitif or meal is often planned, and Workawayers and guests are invited to join as they wish, to share good times and feel part of the family.
