One month minimum stay
At Faial da Terra, on the hill, I maintain & develop a 3000m2 garden rich of a large variety of plants from all climates. Perennials, fruit trees, aromatics and some perennials vegetables. There is a wooden caban equipped with basic for cooking (no electricity ) and few flat places to put a tent (during summer)! There is a dry toilet, no shower (indian style shower).
IMPORTANT
- Faial da Terra is a remote village, 9km from Povoação. Buses from Monday to Friday only. 2hours drive by bus from Ponta Delgada. Really quiet place, if you are looking for community and volunteer team that's not the place!
- You are autonomous most part of the week while I'm working at Ponta Delgada.
Also Faial da Terra is not a surf spot however we enjoy snorkeling and swimming on summer.

the garden is set on a hill and much of it is terraced. The work requires good physical condition. You may be required to work alone: attention, observation and autonomy are necessary.
Cleaning: remove some plants to provide light, air and cover the ground
Pruning: old wood, hedges, more if interested for
Cutting grass: brush cutter
Processing mulch: machine use
Planting, cloning, propagation...
Harvesting seeds, fruits..
Several building or renovation works in the garden. People with knowledge and experience in carpentry or construction, bricoleurs are warmly welcome!
FOOD is shared, basics to provide together regularly depending special needs. Fruits, veggies, aromatics and jams, honey from the garden depending season. Always flexible for special diet. Manage food is a challenge: ants, humidity so organisation, respect and cleanliness are required.
ACCOMODATION wooden caban in the garden or in a tent during summer. Room at home (5 min by foot from the garden) during winter.
Days off are not especially on weekends we organize together.
Buses from /to Faial da Terra only Monday to Friday 8am, 14.20 PM (+9am school period) Povoação/FdT 12.30 pm, 4pm(school period), 6pm .
At Faial there is : 1 grocery, 1 café, 1 restaurant
Povoação is at 9km: hospital, supermarket...

About me: I'm living at Ponta Delgada most part of the week, spending 2/ 3 days a week at Faial da Terra mostly working in the garden.
I'm French , 41 y old. Love arts, music, talks, be creative, games. And I really need help to maintain that beautiful wild garden! I'm travelling during winter and look for long term volunteer. WhatsAp meeting is welcome.

J'ai passé une douzaine de jours fort agréables chez toi. L'endroit est magnifique, calme et au centre de la nature. J'ai appris quelques notions de permaculture, le travail au jardin était super et un peu challenging.
