I have loved boating all my life, and now I'm living on a boat. This is my second wooden Chris Craft. I have also done what's called the great loop (6,000 miles around the eastern US by boat). I've sailed the greek islands and the coast of Turkey. I've been to about 20 countries. Am buying a place in Portugal. My dream adventure would be to cruise around the world.

Embarking on a cultural exchange aboard my vintage wooden yacht offers travelers a unique and enriching experience, providing them with invaluable insights into the art of maintaining and living on a classic vessel. In an era where the skills required for caring for these beautiful wooden yachts are gradually fading away, this opportunity serves as a bridge to pass on these traditions and ensure the preservation of these maritime treasures.

During their stay, participants will delve into the intricacies of yacht maintenance, gaining hands-on experience in caring for the vessel's bottom, hull, and top deck. These three distinct areas require specialized techniques, and by actively participating, travelers will acquire practical skills that are not only fascinating but contribute to the longevity of these timeless boats. Understanding the importance of preventing wood rot becomes a tangible skill that can be applied not only on my yacht but potentially shared with others who share a passion for maritime heritage.

Living aboard the vintage yacht on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, offers a glimpse into a lifestyle defined by tranquility and connection with nature. It's a unique opportunity to test the waters, quite literally, and determine if the charm of living on a boat aligns with one's preferences. The fall season adds an extra layer of allure, with milder temperatures providing a comfortable environment for this immersive experience.

The cultural exchange extends beyond the yacht itself, as participants can explore the amenities surrounding Lake Travis. A beach club, swimming pool, and nature walking trails within walking distance offer a variety of leisure activities, enriching the overall experience of lake life.

So, it's more than a stay; it's a chance to connect with the past, learn useful skills, and see if boat life is for you. We're all about preserving these classic yachts and creating a community that appreciates and takes care of them for the future. Come be a part of it!

Living aboard a 1967, 50 ft Chris Craft provides a unique opportunity for a different lifestyle while offering a hands-on experience in the maintenance of a classic wooden vessel. The boat has two bedrooms with a total of four beds, and one and a half bathrooms, and is crafted entirely from mahogany from stem to stern.

Due to an injured knee, progress on various projects has been slower than desired. I am hoping to find someone knowledgeable in varnishing, woodworking, and home improvement projects. I have an array of tasks, including varnishing, oiling the teak deck, replacing trim in front of the windshield, staining and varnishing a portion of the wheelhouse, touching up chipped paint on the hull, installing a new sink in one of the bathrooms, and addressing engine maintenance.

The help I need involves an array of tasks from simple things like holding the other end of objects and passing tools in hard-to-reach places, to more complicated activities like tipping varnish (a typically two-person job). In return, you will have the opportunity to learn the proper care and maintenance of a classic wooden vessel, gaining valuable skills in varnishing, woodworking, and home improvement. Additionally, this experience allows you to explore whether living aboard a boat aligns with your interests.

The boat is powered by two Ford 427 engines, with one requiring a fuel line replacement and another needing the distributor cap tightened or replaced. If you possess expertise in these areas or are eager to learn, your contribution will be greatly appreciated. Join me in helping to preserve the charm of a timeless vessel while enjoying a unique cultural exchange and a taste of life aboard a classic boat in the Texas Hill Country.

You'll have your own room with two twin beds and your own half bath. The two bedrooms are separated by a galley, a dinette, and a living room. The boat has all the modern conveniences that any home has. There is swimming right off the bow to relax and cool off. And occasionally, we will take the boat out on the lake.
