Finca Project close to Santiago de Compostela is looking for Animal lovers and gardening (permaculture) Nerds!
We are a relatively small finca in the Heart of Galicia quite close to Santiago de Compostela in a very well functioning village with supermarkets, gym, public pool, paddle and Tennis Court as well as bars and restaurants and we are looking for someone with a passion for gardening (permaculture) and all things finca related. I do the horse chores myself, we are not looking for a stable hand. If interested, you can learn about horses with us and about clicker training but that would just be a plus as not everybody is interested in horses and that’s completely ok ☀️.
Our finca is rather small, is partially home to our ponies and partially our own home as well😅with green house and garden and beautiful, quiet surroundings.
You can go mointainbiking here, running, enjoying nature as such and also use the proximity of Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña for a more metropolitan way of spending your free time.
We have our pony and dog crew here (no other dogs/ ponies possible!) and we are offering a room and of course you can help yourself with what’s in the kitchen, use the washing machine and you’d have your own bathroom. -

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
We are always happy about new connections and like the idea of life long learning. You could be 18 or 99, as long as you’re open minded, responsible and hungry for life, I’m sure there is lots of stories to share and time to spend together. This is a safe space for anybody, we’d just like you to be as respectful with us as we are with you (that includes our property and our animals of course).

Ayuda
We would be thrilled about someone genuinely interested in becoming part of our little finca life.
What your time here could look like:
One day you could be planting stuff in the green house, one day you could be fighting the weeds, the next day we could be putting up a fence together or cut free parts of the terrain. One day we could build new raised beds and the next shovel sand or take down a wall/ put up a new one. The next one you could take our pony for a walk (he might need some exercise and he is the size of a big dog 😅🍀)… There is lots of stuff to be done together and there is also stuff you’d do on your own meanwhile I’d be doing other stuff. I like the idea of working together - you’d be a part of our team here.
The focus defo is on permanent culture and that part of our life, creating more settings to plant, organise spaces, take care of plants etc but it will also be general maintenance tasks. I like mutual progress and am happy to share skills and learn from you. My partner will also be here most of the time.
Since we all share this place, we expect you to clean after yourself, wash dishes just like we do or clean the bathroom/ your room, commonly used rooms. We have to mention this due to former experiences, I think it’s needless to say but apparently, it has to be said.
We usually cook together but that depends on individual preferences and we don’t want anybody to have to adapt to schedules that don’t fit.
We both offer a good sense of humour to take life and its odds as they come and we are experienced hosts- since we’ve also already been workawayers we know how it feels to be new at somebody’s home and try to make you feel as welcome and comfy as possible. We speak German, English, Spanish and French and I wouldn’t mind helping you out with those languages if necessary (former teacher).
Important note: Since the dogs live inside with us, it is important to like dogs- I don’t think it would work avoiding them.
They wouldn’t be in your room obviously but in the same house and they are always happy about people here. There is no hitting/ pushing or shouting at them, they’re part of the family (I unfortunately have to mention this due to former experience …).They’re quite calm and sweet but still, they’re here and it’s also their home:). -

I’m always happy to learn more! Portuguese and Italian would be wonderful but I wouldn’t mind other languages either:)! -
Alojamiento
You can choose from two rooms and you’ll have your own bathroom.
Anything that’s in the kitchen and edible is for everybody here. If you have special needs like gluten free or dairy free ingredients you’d have to buy that yourself (we have soy and coconut milk here, no dairy milk). I go shopping with what we need and restock whenever necessary and you can of course use all of that, too for cooking. Usually, we cook together als already said but if schedules or bio rhythms are different, you just do your thing! I always cook for more than two people so there is always enough for everyone. -
Algo más...
I suppose my view on our place is biased but I think Galicia offers some of the most beautiful parts of Spain and the views here are incredible.
The area offers a very beautiful river side, the woods, mountains and as already mentioned the village also comes with some nice amenities. The sea is about 45/50 mins away from here and the beaches are incredible.
You might need a car though as the next bus stop with good connections is a bit far from here (20 mins by car). Santiago de Compostela is about 25 mins away by car and also has excellent train connections all the way up to A Coruña or even Madrid (3 hrs by train).
We are quite liberal and tolerant and would like to make you feel welcome here - we do have some rules though due to some unpleasant experiences in the past:
No other dogs/ ponies whatsoever. We already have three ponies and three dogs here and the house is not huge plus our old dog already got bitten once here by a work awayer’s dog unfortunately, we therefore decided against any other pets here and hope you understand.
No excessive drinking and no other drugs whatsoever!
No unannounced bringing of friends/ relatives etc.
It should go without saying but we’ve learned it unfortunately does not so I’ll mention this again: this place will be shared, that also means that we think it’s normal for you to clean after yourself, wash the dishes, clean the bathroom (just like we do), clean the floors etc- of course not everyday and we won’t ’make use of you’ for this but please keep in mind this is a shared space and not a hotel (already had this as well).
Our general rule is : communication. We try to talk everything through at the start (schedules, habits, bio rhythm, preferences of food, tasks, experiences etc.) but if there is questions throughout your stay, fire away and ask if something is unclear. -

You can of course work here, the internet is very fast and the house is quiet- just please bear in mind you have to make sure you can fit 5hours a day five days a week into your working schedule- in summer this means early mornings and late afternoons due to the heat and work outside. Anything from September/ November to March is more relaxed but it does get hot here in summer.

Espacio para aparcar autocaravanas
We have a small forest here, suitable for small campers but you have to have ac in summer and a well insulated motorhome/ camper van. We can’t offer electricity or running water in the forest though so your mobile home has to be prepared.
