Descripción
We are a young social company seeking to develop sustainable tourism strategies to support conservation projects in Nicaragua. We don't receive money from any organization or government institutions. We run sustainable conservation initiatives thanks to active donors who participate in our projects; they cover their expenses and leave some funds on top to keep the project going. However, our staff team is small, and we can't cover all the activities. We are always looking for versatile people interested in long-term stays and eager to learn about wildlife conservation while helping in specific project areas.

Be part of a real sea turtle conservation project. Full training on sea turtles management at nesting beaches will be accessible. Our project site is located on a virgin island on the Nicaraguan Pacific coast. We provide:
- free accommodation
- free meals / food support
- the opportunity to live and contribute directly within an active conservation project in Nicaragua
Ayuda
We are currently looking for two long-term volunteer collaborators to join our team at the Conservation Project in Nicaragua during the upcoming season.
These are key support roles within the project and are ideal for people who want to contribute in a meaningful, hands-on way while becoming part of the day-to-day life of an active conservation station.
This opportunity is not designed as a short-term volunteer experience, but rather for people who are ready to take on real responsibility, live in a shared field-station environment, and play an important part in helping the project run effectively.
We are currently recruiting for the following two positions:
1) Station Logistics & Kitchen Coordinator
This role is focused on the daily functioning of the station, with a particular emphasis on food service, kitchen organization, household logistics, and shared daily routines.
We are looking for someone practical, organized, and dependable who can help create structure and stability in station life.
Main responsibilities include:
planning and preparing daily meals for the volunteer group
organizing and maintaining the kitchen
managing grocery shopping and food supplies
monitoring basic inventory and household needs
helping coordinate daily shared tasks among volunteers
supporting the general cleanliness, organization, and practical functioning of the station
Important note:
A central and non-negotiable part of this role is taking responsibility for the preparation of daily meals for the volunteer group.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys:
cooking for groups
practical organization
community living
helping keep a shared space running smoothly
2) Volunteer Field Coordinator
This role is more focused on the field side of the project and is ideal for someone with a stronger interest or background in conservation, biology, environmental work, volunteer leadership, and field-based coordination.
We are looking for someone who can help organize, guide, and support volunteer participation in project activities while helping maintain structure and quality in the field program.
Main responsibilities include:
helping organize and lead daily volunteer field activities
coordinating patrols and activity schedules
supporting mangrove reforestation and nursery monitoring
helping oversee coastal clean-up activities and other conservation actions
training volunteers in field protocols and practical tasks
helping ensure proper data collection and record keeping
supporting data organization and digitalization
helping deliver welcome talks and volunteer orientations
supporting the general coordination and flow of the volunteer field program
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys:
outdoor work
conservation field activities
working with volunteer groups
combining leadership, logistics, and environmental action
What both roles have in common
Both positions require someone who is:
responsible and reliable
proactive and solution-oriented
comfortable living in a simple field-station environment
adaptable and community-minded
willing to take initiative and support others
able to commit to a minimum stay of three months
These roles are especially suitable for people who are looking for a deeper and more meaningful involvement in a conservation project, rather than a short volunteer placement.
Conditions
These are volunteer collaboration roles, and there is no participation fee.
Why these roles matter
A successful season depends not only on field activities, but also on strong daily coordination, good structure, and a supportive station environment.
These two roles are essential to helping the project function well, creating a positive experience for volunteers, and ensuring that conservation work is carried out effectively and consistently.

Algo más...
Last but not least, we kindly ask you to refrain from applying if you are simply looking for a cheap place to stay comfortably while continuing your journey. Our experience has shown us that enduring the isolation of a nesting beach in rustic living conditions can be challenging without genuine motivation. We are seeking proactive individuals with positive energy and a commitment to our conservation goals. After fifteen years of hosting participants from various backgrounds in similar projects, the general consensus is that you take away much more than you give. If you are currently seeking a unique experience and are willing to contribute to a meaningful, albeit invisible, project, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
The project is affording all the food costs for long-term volunteers. If you think one of these roles may be a good fit for you, please feel free to get in touch and include:
- A short introduction about yourself
- Which role you are interested in
- Your availability
- Any relevant experience (cooking, logistics, volunteer coordination, biology, fieldwork, conservation, etc.)
We would be happy to share more details and discuss whether it could be a good fit :)

I had the pleasure to stay at the project for over 2 months, from late November to early January. I was able to see both adult sea turtles come to the beach to lay eggs, and release baby turtles the project had rescued from poachers and incubated. I cannot recommend spending time here more, it… read more

Helping the turtles is really an amazing experience to live, we had the chance to see so many hatchlings since it was almost the end of the nesting season, and we really got lucky during the last night of our stay by having the chance to whiteness three… read more
