Descripción
After several years working with tourists in the beautiful desert of Wadi Rum in Jordan, I've got a big experience as a guide.
My name is Atayek Hamad, from the tribe of Zalabieh and i grew up in the desert where my parents are still living in.
I am very proud of my bedouin culture and I like to share it with the foreigners who are going to visit my area.
Very good driver, well experimented as trekking guide, I speak and understand english good enough and I want to communicate my passion of the desert to the others.
I know many beautiful places where you can contemplate the red landscape of Wadi Rum, on the top of the highest mountains of the place for example. I will show you the tracks of animal drawings on the sand, I will tell you about our wild bedouin life here, I will lead you through unknown canyons and roads. We will share together the pleasure of being in such an amazing place.
You can decide to sleep under a bedouin tent in a camp, or outside in the moonlight, you can decide if you prefere to visit Wadi Rum by jeep or by feet, I will adapt my tour to everyone, because each one has his own rythm, each one have different wishes.
I am sure you'll spend an unforgetable moment with us in our desert. -

Volunteers are also expected to help me with tourists doing translations and also explaining about the region and the tours.
There`s also some work to be done with some water dams that have being abandoned for a while and are now full of sand that must be shoveled away to store again water from the rainy season for ours animals. -

Wadi Rum is an amazing desert, a breathtaking place, between dunes of red sand, rocks, camels, jeeps and under a sky full of stars.
Volunteering here was a good way to discover more about Bedouin's traditional life. It was really great to meet Atayek, and be integrate in his family and his routine.

The main positive sign - the chance to live in the desert! It’s marvelous! Plenty of stars, quite place and a lot of cute camels around!
You can hike around or do a jeep-tour and sandboarding (which was amazing.. I was full of sand, … read more
