Descripción
Hola! We are a family – Robert (31), Carmen (24), our son Ender (born October 2023), and our youngest Atlas (born February 2026).
In October 2024, we moved to Spain to start living a more conscious and connected lifestyle. We have nearly 6 hectares of land and are slowly transforming it step by step into a place that lives in harmony with nature.
Our goal is to become more self-sufficient: we grow our own vegetables in our large greenhouse and are learning about permaculture and ecological living along the way. In the future, we dream of creating a food forest and continuing to expand our homestead.
We live here together with our three dogs and three cats, and we’re planning to add chickens soon. So there are always fun projects to work on!
What might make our project special is that we’re not experienced farmers or gardeners. We simply jumped into this adventure out of curiosity and the desire to learn. So we’d love to invite you to be part of this journey!
Whether you have experience or not, if you enjoy being outdoors, learning new things, and helping build something meaningful, you’ll feel right at home here.
Our place is in a beautiful and peaceful area. The perfect spot to slow down, get your hands dirty, and reconnect with nature.
We’re looking forward to meeting you!

Cultural exchange at our place
We love the idea of learning from people from all over the world, and of sharing our own journey as a young family building a new life in Spain.
There will be lots of opportunities for sharing ideas, stories, and practical skills. Since we’re learning as we go – in gardening, renovation, and raising animals – we’re very open to trying new approaches that volunteers bring with them. In return, we share our experiences, meals, and daily life.
We live in a peaceful rural area with a growing international community, and we sometimes visit local markets and nearby villages. If you’re interested, we’d love to introduce you to the area and to some of the wonderful people we’ve met here.
Around the house, we value honest conversations, laughter, and good food. We enjoy connecting over simple things like working side by side, cooking together, or enjoying a quiet evening by the fire.
We hope to create a space where everyone feels at home and inspired.

Ayuda
There’s always something to do around here, and we’d love some extra hands and curious minds to join us on this journey!
There’s a wide mix of small, practical tasks you can help with – depending on the season, the weather, and what needs doing.
Some examples of what you might do:
• Helping out in the vegetable garden or greenhouse (weeding, planting, watering)
• Helping prepare areas for future projects (like building a chicken coop)
• Light outdoor tasks like clearing paths or tidying the land
• Helping create natural features like compost areas, shade spots, or small structures
• Occasionally lending a hand in the kitchen or around the house
• And sometimes: entertaining one of the kids so we can get a few things done 😄
You don’t need any special skills – just a positive attitude and a willingness to try new things. And if you do have experience with hands-on projects, that’s always a nice bonus!
We always work together with our volunteers. We’re learning as we go, so you’ll never be left alone with big tasks. It’s all about figuring things out as a team, sharing ideas, and having fun in the process.

Alojamiento
At the moment, you will stay in your own space in our home. It’s simple but comfortable, and we do our best to make it feel relaxed and welcoming.
You’ll share the shower and toilet with us. We all appreciate a clean and respectful shared space (and yes, we all like a fresh toilet seat 😄).
We provide three meals a day, and we often cook and eat together. Life here is quite informal and flexible. Sometimes a bit chaotic with two young kids, but always warm and real.
It’s all still evolving, but we aim to create a cozy and welcoming place for everyone.
Algo más...
We live a calm and simple life close to nature, and we really appreciate open communication, respect for each other’s space, and a good sense of humor.
We share our home with three friendly dogs and three cats, so it’s important that you feel comfortable around animals. They are very much part of the family (and yes, they will probably try to get your attention at some point).
In your free time, there are walking trails nearby, and we sometimes go to local markets or visit surrounding villages. You’re always welcome to join. There’s also plenty of space on the land to relax, read, or just enjoy the quiet.
We’re about 18 minutes by car from the nearest village, so having your own transport is helpful but not essential. We can help with rides now and then or pick you up if needed.
If you’re traveling with your own campervan, you’re very welcome too! Just keep in mind that vehicles longer than 6 meters may have trouble reaching our house due to the narrow road. There is a parking area near the village church, and from there it’s about a 10-minute walk to our place. We walk that route ourselves regularly.
There are also great outdoor activities in the area. We love hiking in the Picos de Europa, about an hour away, with incredible views. Nearby villages also have a small climbing/bouldering gym and a swimming pool.
We especially appreciate people who take initiative, are easygoing, and enjoy being part of family life. And we’re really looking forward to sharing this place and journey with curious, kind, and hands-on people.
Quick note: our response rate here may look low, but that’s because we prefer not to communicate much through Workaway messages. We usually reply by suggesting a short (video) call, which feels more personal and easier for both sides 🙂
Un poco más de información

Acceso a Internet

Acceso a Internet limitado

Tenemos animales

Somos fumadores

Puede alojar familias

Puede acoger a nómadas digitales
Our internet connection is reliable but currently only available in and around the house. Great for emails, basic work, and video calls near the house.

Espacio para aparcar autocaravanas
As mentioned earlier, campervans longer than 6 meters should park near the church in the village. From there it’s a 10-minute walk to our home. It’s possible to reach our place directly without a 4x4. And no worries — we have a great neighbor with a strong tractor who actually loves to help if needed!

Podría aceptar mascotas
We have three friendly dogs, so we’re open to pets as long as they’re social and well-behaved around other animals. Please check in with us first so we can be sure it’s a good fit for everyone.

Ayka and zola
Ayka is a nearly 5-year-old mix between a Keeshond and a Husky, living her best life under the Spanish sun together with her mother. She’s playful, full of energy, and listens… well, whenever she feels like it. Balls, sticks, or really anything you throw are her absolute favorites—unlike her mom, who prefers to spend the entire day stretched out in the trunk of the car, proudly maintaining her beautiful figure. Ayka, on the other hand, is always ready for action and adventure, bringing fun and chaos wherever she goes.
