** Must be ok with big friendly dogs and responsible /strong enough to help for a few hours each day helping with cleaning, weeding, gardening, moving mulch and dog walking without supervision. Couples are welcome, especially over 25 years of age.
At the moment I can talk people up to about 1 -2 weeks maximum.
I'm also happy if you want to do a solid day of work and then take a few days off to explore **
Hello from beautiful Cairns!
We are a friendly, easy-going family that is seeking a couple of hardworking and trustworthy non-smoking travellers to help out with around 3-4 hours of cleaning/household/dog walking work a day in exchange for short term accommodation and some basic food provided.
We have had a lot of family staying over recently and now the house, garden and car need a really good clean! Plus, our dog, and cat may need some caring for on occasions whilst I'm away.
We normally like to get the jobs out of the way in the morning due to the tropical nature of Cairns. The kind of jobs include spring cleaning house (scrubbing bathroom, mopping floors, washing walls, dusting, vacuuming, shampooing furniture etc), helping to looking after dogs (walking, cleaning, feeding, taking photos), cleaning and polishing cars, gurneying (pressure washing) mouldy paths and driveways, weeding, mowing, picking up dead leaves, mulching the garden and chopping down branches, washing windows, tidying/cleaning kitchen cupboards and general household cleaning.
Our house is air-conditioned and comfortable with friendly pets, internet, Netflix and a pool. There is a bus stop to town almost directly outside the door. If you are over 25 and have a full international licence I might even let you have the use of my car.
We really love meeting people from other countries and are really happy to welcome you and show you around the local area. But, please contact us only if you are clean with a great self-driven work ethic, don't mind getting dirty in the garden, are happy to get up early, be quiet after 10.30pm and can work unsupervised with initiative. I work full time and I'm busy enough with work and family and really don't like chasing people to do things, so I am happy for you to choose whatever you like from a long jobs list. But if you prefer to sleep past 9 am and party all night a backpacker hostel will be better suited to you. :)

Jobs would depend on your previous experience but mostly includes household cleaning, gardening (weeding and sweeping mostly) , gurneying, mulching the garden,
walking, feeding, cleaning up after dogs, taking photos for their owners (I dog sit)
cleaning cars inside and out.
We really prefer people with a mature work ethic who will contribute to jobs in the morning when it is not raining and who we can trust to get on with things without us having to chase them. Please don't apply if you like to party all night and sleep all day or if you need a lot of direction to get on with doing things. With teens, working and a lot of adopted dogs coming and going things are already busy enough without chasing people, thank you for your initiative and understanding :)
