Hi, I'm Rubén, a Spanish guy and I've been living in Sri Lanka for 10 years. After a long time, I have fulfilled my dream of running my own kitesurfing school in Kalpitiya.
I like to treat my hosts like friends and the more time I can spend with them in the water kitesurfing, the happier I feel. I like to teach, do downwinds trips and explore new kite spots
From the first time I arrived in this country, I was amazed and that is why I decided to stay. What I like most about here is the friendliness of the local people and their lifestyle as well. I am also passionate about nature, that's why in Kalpitiya I find almost everything I like to do. In addition to hosting my guests, I organize trips around the island, and in my spare time, I teach English to the children of the neighborhood. I also love touring the island on a motorcycle in search of places yet to be discovered.
I decided to come to Sri Lanka because I was very unhappy with my last job in Spain and here I could find many opportunities. Now I travel once a year to Spain when it's low season, so I can visit my family and friends.

Our kite school is located in a remote area of Sri Lanka. We are located in a very traditional and humble neighborhood. We are always interacting with our local workers and neighbors and you can learn a lot from them. We would like you to interact with our local community so that you can learn more about what Sri Lankans are like and how they think, and at the same time, they can also learn something from you. Our wish is a win-win situation between you and the local community.
It is also a good opportunity to learn the daily operation of a kitesurf school and how to run a kitesurfing camp. The more you get involved, the more you can learn. We also have bicycles that you can use for free to get around the area. Please note that we cannot exchange this volunteer project for kitesurfing lessons.

We are looking for HAPPY people who can help us in our kite camp - kitesurf school in Kalpitiya. We need someone with High social and outgoing skills who can take care that all the guests are HAPPY too,
From May to September and from December to March, the wind blows constantly in Kalpitiya and it is the perfect time to come kitesurfing. We teach in flat and shallow waters, perfect conditions to learn, that's why we are located in the best place in Asia for kitesurfing. We are also probably the number 1 IKO center in Asia
If you are a creative person, guest-oriented, outgoing, and concerned about the environment, do not hesitate to contact us. You can help us by serving and entertaining customers such as organizing activities or playing games in no-wind days.
Also, if you know how to lead yoga sessions or have knowledge in website development or SEO, you are also welcome.
We are very involved with the environment and we want our kitesurf school to be a sustainable project. Plastic waste is a huge problem in Sri Lanka and we would love for you to help us by involving the community, our staff, and our customers in this amazing project.
-we have eliminated plastic bottles from our camp
- We regularly collect plastics on the beach and neighbourhood
-We make customers aware of the misuse of water
-We carry out selective garbage collection
- We would like you to help with our project.
NO HELP REQUIRED IN THE KITCHEN AND RESTAURANT (Our Sri Lankan staff takes care of our restaurant . If you want to learn how to cook Sri Lankan food or want to show the local community some recipes from your country, you are welcome :) After kitesurfing and dinner, you can spend some time with the guests so they have a good time
In total, we have 10 local employees working with us and it would be great if you shared your experiences and knowledge with them.

This was my first workaway experience and
I loved all of it. This is a relaxed place with a wonderful atmosphere where you will make many friends. guests come and stay longer than at a normal hostel as they are learning to kite and I felt very lucky for this.
