Our family of three artists live a few blocks from the cafes, shops and pubs of hip West Asheville. We have a 1/2 acre solar powered urban homestead with an orchard, chickens, veggie gardens, and art spaces. We are transplants from the Northeast by way of California. Been in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains for 14 years and are very involved in local politics and culture. We are new to Workaway but have a couple of years of Airbnb hosting experience, as well as being users of Couchsurfing and Hip Camp. We want to create the conditions for more mutual aid in the world.
We have lots of projects that need extra hands, including building fences and a shed, weeding (endless), mulching, and rebuilding an old travel trailer. We are involved in many community projects: building parade puppets, the local Fringe Festival, and gleaning local farmers' bounty for mutual aid. We have a cheery guest room that sleeps 2 (full size bed) with a shared bath. Close to transit. Our street is quiet and suitable for van/RV guests as well.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

I am a puppeteer, teacher and community artist, my husband is a costume designer, our son is a metal worker, musician and clothing designer. We have knowledge of gardening, back yard chickens, cooking and preserving. We are sculptors, painters and sewers. We work with many art materials including concrete, mosaic, rubber, fiber, scrap metal, molding and casting. Happy to share what we know and learn from our guests as well.

Our 3 bedroom/2 bath house is small and well loved. We are 2 blocks from bustling Haywood Road where you can catch a bus downtown, or walk to many restaurants, music venues, breweries and shops. We have a cheery guest room that sleeps 2 (one full size bed) with a shared bath. We will provide basic breakfast fixings, and (usually) dinner on workdays. You will have fridge and cupboard space and use of the kitchen. We eat meat and fish and a lot of eggs, veg and fruit. We have a cats, a dog and 8 chickens.
Algo más...
Asheville is known for its arts scene, breweries and gorgeous scenery. Lots to do and see here. We can advise on hiking trails, affordable restaurants, off beat art activities. Please no smoking on the property. You must clean up after yourself in the shared areas. We have wifi but it's not super fast. Street parking only. Guests must be fully vaxxed and practice masking when in public indoor spaces.
