My husband and I are retired teachers with two grown children. We live in the Matanuska Valley on the edge of Lazy Mountain. I was a Deaf Education Teacher so I know some ASL. I’d say I’m at a rusty conversational level.
We built an addition with help from a workawayer. We have a few sheep, some chickens and nearly every summer we get a few pigs to butcher in the fall. We also have a good sized garden and a greenhouse. We have a barn to clean and a manure pile to build.
This year I want help jacking up and making level a small house here on the property. I am not as strong at 66 as I used to be and I could use help with heavy work.
Also, you should know, we live about 6 miles (about 9.5 km I think) from town. Bus service is not an option. Together, we can figure out how to get you to where you might like to go. If you are comfortable with riding with strangers, we have friends, and someone is always going somewhere. We will get you where you want to go.
If you like hiking, then this is a great place! There is also an active mountain biking community here with many off road trails. The fishing is excellent here.

Visiting Alaska is allowing yourself to rely on others to provide entertainment, travel and letting yourself join the world of positive people. You will get to where you want to go, provided you communicate where that is.
Help with various small building projects. Yard work, help with the sheep. The barn always needs to be cleaned.
This summer, the small house on the property needs fixing up.

There is a bedroom downstairs with a queen(?), bed and it's own bathroom.
Palmer, Alaska is in the Matanuska Valley, google it. There are mountains all around and plenty of hiking. We are an hour's drive from Anchorage and a 6-7 hour drive from Fairbanks and 5ish hours from Homer.

I am not sure if our wifi is fast enough to satisfy someone who is working to earn their livelihood.
We have lots of space for any size van, but we do not have dump facilities for sewage.
If you want to bring a dog, it must be good around livestock and our dogs and cat. Otherwise, it will need to be tied up or on a leash at all times. '
