This project has started 3 years ago and it aims to protect and regenerate this land of around 100 ha located in Chapada dos Veadeiros 40 km from the city of Cavalcante, in the Cerrado bioma.
The farm resides in a somewhat preserved microregion since the large scale industrial commodities farming hasn't reach here yet. Nevertheless the main agricultural activity around here for almost 3 centuries so far is a very inefficient extensive livestock ranching that relies on the constant use of uncontrolled fire to prevent natural regeneration processes from taking over the pastures. However this microregion is the place of many springs and important rivers that feed the Rio Tocantins basin, likewise Cerrado itself feeds most of Brazil's river basins, reason why it is called "the cradle of waters".
By protect and regenerate we mean to prevent the fire from getting in with living firebreaks so that the area can accumulate and cycle biomass feeding the soil life, and to enhance natural succession process by managing and pruning existing plants and introducing ones from next stages and desired cultures, following Syntropic Agriculture principles.
We also take part in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group in collaboration with other organic farms.

The house is right beside a cristaline water river with a olympic size natural pool in it and there's also a small and very special waterfall not so far away. The sightseeing around is absolutely gorgeous and we can go hiking on the off days to check it out.
Also the farm is beside the vast Kalunga territory and near to the Engenho II community which has some attractions open for touristic visitations like the Santa Bárbara waterfall and other experiences. There are other communities as well but they aren't so close.
Unfortunately there's no public transportation around.
Our weekly work routine is mainly:
- to manage the compost piles we feed from manure or organic trash we collect in some markets in the city, trimmed grass and weeds, and shredded wood.
- to weed, water, manage and harvest the vegetable beds, and to plant new ones
- to prepare seedlings and manage the plant nursery
- to prune, trimm and manage the agroforest areas
We expect from our volunteers to be motivated by the principles behind ecosystem restoration, syntropic agriculture, organic farming, permaculture and resilience. Having previous experience or just motivation are equally welcome, but to just trade work for free accommodation while traveling is not enough for us. We also expect volunteers to be alert, proactive and independants, and to be responsible for their share in cooking and cleaning.

The house has hot showers on sunny days, limited solar electricity and limited WiFi. There is no mobile signal.
Since the house is small and simple, we ask volunteers to sleep in camping tents. We can provide the tent, mattresses, pillows, sheets and blankets as well.
Meals are simple and vegan and we usually cook together preferably food we produce or trade with neighbours and friends. Our water is pure and it comes from a nearby spring.
Since we are very isolated and focused in our project, we are not the best option for those who are travelling around Brazil and Chapada dos Veadeiros looking foward to meet different places, cultures and people.
