  The basketry museum was founded in 2016 and has a collection of over two hundred indigenous and Canadian baskets. There are several workshops conducted in the summer to use local materials to make practical and artistic baskets. For example, split ash baskets are make from local trees. The owner and curator of the museum has expertise in both the techniques and materials in the craft of basketry.

  Travelers could learn about life in a small rural village about 1.5 hours from Ottawa. They could learn about natural materials used in basketry and techniques to make baskets. They could learn how to operate a small museum, manage the collection of baskets, and support and learn in workshops. They could join community activities including the farmers market, community arts center while enjoying the local opportunities for biking, swimming, canoeing, etc.

  If you have an interest in creative arts, with focus on fibre arts and interest in cultural heritage and museums, you can join me at the basketry museum located in rural Ontario near Ottawa, Ontario. You can learn about running a small non-profit museum, organizing the events for the museum, supporting basketry workshops, on-line presence, and learning techniques, including hand weaving, gardening and beekeeping.
