We are Mirella, Mosaab and our child Gabriele, living in the countryside near Città della Pieve, between Umbria and Tuscany, where we run our farm and homestead project.

A few years ago we chose a very different life and started bringing an abandoned farmhouse back to life. It has grown into an ongoing project combining farming, homestead life, family life, and constant hands-on work.

Our land includes olive groves, fruit trees, gardens, animals, shared living spaces, and ongoing projects that are continuously being cared for and improved.

We care for sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, dogs and cats, and much of life here revolves around the natural rhythms of the land and the animals.

We produce our own olive oil, preserves and juices by hand, and this place is also a space where people come to connect with the environment and way of life we’ve created here.

Daily life is varied and very real: caring for animals and gardens, maintaining shared spaces, small practical projects, and adapting together to the rhythm of the seasons and everyday life here.

We put a lot of care into the environment we create here and into making the experience feel welcoming, human and meaningful for the right people.

Because of that, finding a truly compatible match matters a lot to us.

This is not a holiday stay or simply a scenic base to explore Italy from. It is a real homestead, shared family life, and hands-on rural living.

The exchange here is about sharing real life.

You may learn about aspects of rural living, homestead life, gardening, animals, practical problem-solving, and the reality of building a life close to the land.

But above all, this is a human exchange.

We value curiosity, initiative, adaptability, maturity, and people who genuinely want to participate rather than simply be hosted.

The best experiences for us happen when both sides bring something meaningful: energy, skills, perspective, care, humour, and openness.

Life here follows the rhythm of the seasons, the land, the animals, and shared daily life in the farmhouse.

Tasks can vary depending on the moment, but may include gardening, animal care, cleaning and maintaining shared spaces, practical help around the property, household tasks, and general hands-on support in daily life.

We especially appreciate people with practical/manual skills, common sense, initiative, and a positive attitude toward physical work.

Some days are lighter, some are busier — flexibility, mutual trust, and adaptability matter much more here than rigid routines.

We’re looking for people who naturally notice what needs doing and enjoy being an active, helpful presence within daily life.

We do not ask Workawayers to help with guest-facing hospitality work, accommodation operations, or business-related tasks.

The exchange we offer is centred around shared family/homestead life, including animals, land care, household life, shared spaces, and practical daily projects around the farmhouse.

You’ll have your own private room within the farm.

Meals are shared as part of family life, and food is simply part of the everyday exchange here.

Meals are not a separate hosted service, but part of shared daily life — the experience works best for people who are happy to join the natural rhythm of meals, cooking, tidying, and life together.

If you have highly specific dietary requirements or personal food routines, this may not be the best fit.

Internet is available, but this is not a suitable place for digital nomads or for anyone needing regular online commitments, scheduled calls, meetings, or a highly predictable personal routine.

That kind of structure simply doesn’t fit well with the flexibility and rhythm of life here.

    GOOD FIT / PRACTICAL NOTES

This experience is likely a great fit if you:

    – enjoy rural life and nature
    – are mature, grounded and adaptable
    – are physically comfortable with practical work
    – are proactive and self-directed
    – enjoy shared family-style living
    – are genuinely curious about farm / homestead life

This probably isn’t the right fit if your main motivation is:

    – tourism / exploring Italy extensively while staying here
    – maintaining remote work commitments
    – having highly predictable routines
    – treating this mainly as a travel stop rather than a shared exchange experience

We absolutely encourage enjoying the area during your free time — it’s beautiful — but the main reason for coming should be participating in this exchange and daily life.

Because this kind of exchange takes time to settle into naturally and meaningfully for both sides, we only consider stays of at least one full month.

The historic village of Città della Pieve is about a 20-minute uphill walk from the farm, or 5 minutes by car.
The nearest train station is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, around 15 minutes away by car.
