We were really happy to meet and spend a week with Monica. We were impressed by all the languages she mastered, her artistic and musical talents and all her effort for cooking! We whish her a great success for her future publications and we'll see her again for sure!

I spent a lovely week with Valerie's family; Valerie, Angelo, Matteo, Gabriel, Sybille and Calinette (the cats) were all great company. My knowledge of dishes is limited, but they welcomed and encouraged me anyway and were never demanding. I particularly enjoyed our conversations a lot and the movie nights!
I also played a bit of piano with

We were really happy to host Mahdi (and then briefly to meet his wife). We learned a lot about Iran and Canada, we tasted delicious food and had interesting discussions on many subjects! We wish him/them all the best, many other adventures and discoveries and maybe they'll be one day a host family for our future workawayers boys!

My experience of spending two weeks with the French-Italian family, Valérie and Angelo, was incredibly enjoyable and memorable. They are a lovely and kind family. On the first day, as planned, Valérie picked me up from the train station and brought me to their home. During those two weeks, I truly felt like a part of their family.
There wasn’t
… read more much work to do during this season, but I tried to help with preparing dinners and a few other tasks. Their two teenage sons, Gabriel and Matteo, were very smart and funny. We had many great conversations and even watched movies together.
Valérie is an energetic woman who always has new and exciting plans, while Angelo, her husband, is a very kind and highly knowledgeable man. I enjoyed having conversations with him. Angelo is now very eager to visit Iran, :) but at the same time, I think he’s equally excited about joining me for boating in Vancouver. :) Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing him again.
After two weeks, Valérie kindly dropped me off at the metro station again. Later, we had the chance to meet up once more at a restaurant in Paris, where my wife, Masi, and I were Valérie's guests.
I sincerely hope to see this wonderful and respectful family again someday.

What a pleasure to have Jessica with us! She's just perfect and is now part of our family. We're having great time together, we love our discussions with her, as well as her cooking!

I had a lovely three weeks with Angelo and Valerie's family. The whole family was very welcoming as soon as I arrived and made sure everything would be comfortable for me, from letting me choose which bedroom I wanted, to the food I would want in the house to eat. … read more and happenings in the world. I loved getting to know both of the boys and helping them with their English, even though they were both very talented already! The area they live in is beyond lovely, with an amazing bakery I went to often. Getting into Paris isn’t difficult at all, so I went there often and was very free during the day to visit whatever I wanted. The meals that the family made were all amazing, and I’m so glad Valerie helped me with my cooking skills. We had a great first experience as a host family with Sam who joined our family for one week.

What a wonderful family and Workaway! This was my first Workaway experience. It was their first time being hosts as well and it was a perfect fit!!
We really hit it off straight away and I felt right at home from the beginning. Angelo, Valérie and the two boys are a very caring, open, welcoming and warm family. They welcomed me like a member of
… read more the family. The two boys have wonderful characters. They are curious, well-behaved, they love to learn, and are always up for anything fun!
I mainly helped out the two boys with English and Music in a way which allowed me to explore a free form of education, with the main emphasis being on inspiration. Each of the boys plays a different instrument, Piano and Guitar. As a professional composer, artist, and music teacher, these are my two instruments, so I was able to give them meaningful musical insight in their free time. I taught them Piano, Guitar, Composition, English and even some Skateboarding!
I also helped out Angelo and Valérie out with their English pronunciation and general fluency. They encouraged me to feel free to correct them with their English at any time which worked very well between us. I occasionally helped out with cooking and I even made them an authentic Irish Breakfast on the Sunday morning! There was never any pressure on me, just a common sense approach to keeping the place clean and tidy and knowing when to offer help. They provided everything I needed. The bakeries there are traditional and authentic. Mmm.
We also had a lot of fun playing Jenga and even watched a Star Wars movie all together on the Friday evening. Two of the other highlights for me were cycling in the beautiful forest nearby and going to the amazing local skatepark with the boys.
Angelo and Valérie’s house is wonderful and in a beautiful area right beside a forest, and not too far from Paris. I was able to go on walks in nature, visit local museums, and I even visited Maurice Ravel’s house which was very special for me as he is my favourite composer and one of the reasons I went to study music in France.
Their piano is fantastic!
