Out of all my different Workaway experiences, this has to be one of my favourites. I have been fortunate enough to have been there two times, 2 months during winter and about 2 weeks in spring. Both times I have felt welcome immediately, both by Georgiana and the other volunteers.
In winter, out tasks mostly included woodwork; chopping down spruce
… read more trees to increase biodiversity and making firewood and fixing things inside the house. The cold weather was sometimes hard to deal with, but the outside work kept us warm. In our freetime we played a lot of games, did a lot of cross-country skiing and Georgiana took us to some local concerts. I also spent Christmas here and it was great to meet her lovely family, everyone made the volunteers feel very welcome.
I came back for about 2 weeks in spring, we mostly took care of the plants and we made hay for the horses in winter.

I've had a lot of great volunteers and I have to say Eline was really top notch! I would thoroughly recommend her help. At first I didn't really notice but as time passed I understood more and more her fantastic qualities. For one thing its so easy to ask her to do a job, what ever it is she usually says of course. On the other hand she doesn't
… read more just work automatically, but really thinks about it and follows through. She is really nice to have as a friend, who is always interested and thoughtful about whats going on. She really cares about people and animals and its important to her to do the best she can. We also had a lot of fun and good experiences together. Thanks so much Eline, I really appreciated your stay at Opsal and hope to see you again here one day.

Right when I came there Georgiana was sooo welcoming. I felt at home just after one day. I met her grandchildren, family and other workawayers/wwoofers which made me feel at home right away. We had around 4,5h per day at work. which was perfect because we had lots of free time after that to cook, go for walks, take a nap. We each had our cooking
… read more day and a personal task like caring for the pigs, going shopping. The amount of trust Georgiana had in us was so beautiful.
We listened to lots of stories. We talked about so many different topics, meditated together, went in to nature together. Really a place where you can feel safe and free.
With the other volunteers we went on lots of hikes. Did a hytte tur twice and swam in the lake. even though it was freezing. Experiences i’ll never forget.

We so much enjoyed the time with David and Julia. I was especially grateful as I had two new horses on the farm and Julias kind patient and knowledgeable help was fantastic. David is an intelligent and good craftsman who tackled all kinds of random jobs like making a house for the pigs, putting in windows, mending fencing etc. Indeed they both

Thiago was on my farm for three months. During this time he was very supportive, kind and thoughtful to everyone living here. Staying with Georgiana was wonderful! We had a lovely crew of workawayers from all over the place during my stay, and we all got along really well. I was lucky enough to be there for springtime planting, and I got to see the first sprouts from the seeds we planted. I helped out with the horses and pigs and some other projects too! Wow, Sebastian was such a great guy to have around! my time at opsalgard was wonderful and will always be one of the experiences I will never forget.
There is so much to learn from georgana about appreciating the simplest things, being in the moment or dealing with the cold.
Georgana puts so much trust in the volunteers taking on new tasks or projects they have set themselves, which gave me a lot
… read more of courage to believe in myself more. Through that I learned a lot and I am grateful for that.
When there is no event in the Weekend there are beautiful walks you can go on, projects you can work on yourself, cross country skiing during wintertime or the chance to stay with armin in oslo which if you get the opportunity I recommend.
During the 4 Weeks I was there, there was a christmas party and a oar building course, which gave me the opportunity to get to konow a lot of interesting and fun people from the neighborhood.
In general the whole atmosphere georgana and the other volunteers and the family that was staying there created, made me feel so much at home and I will always look back at the game nights and evening we would get caught up in discussions, with a big smile :).
I hope to come back some time and see how the farm has developed and to finally see the piggies :).

I also spent easter with her and her family. It was very nice to be part of it and I enjoyed the games.

I had a truly wonderful time here. I stayed 4 weeks and from the very beginning of my stay, Georgiana made me feel at home. She is a tough and brave woman, yet gentle and generous. … read more lot, from cutting wood and cleaning the gutters, to sewing or preparing the permacultural vegetable garden. The work is done in a good mood, all the volunteers working together and sharing knowledge to move the project forward. Everybody's opinion is valued and usually, we decide altogether what should be prioritized, and in which direction should the project go.
The place is also beautiful, surrounded by peaceful forests with a view over the valley. Neighbors sometimes come and say Hi, which is great if you want to meet the locals.
