    Descripción

Our non-profit CIC was created in 2023 in response to the effects of the cost of living crisis on a very isolated rural community of 100 people. Knoydart “Scotland’s last wilderness” is a peninsular with no road access. This means that all food is bought in on a small boat and so is vulnerable to delays from bad weather and pricing premiums. The farm aims to produce healthy affordable vegetables for the community. The farm also intends to provide an accessible space for learning and well-being for all ages whilst also generating several permanent employment positions, thus building farming knowledge and skills for the younger generation of the peninsular.

We are in the very early stages of what will one day be a fantastic project. The tasks will involve a lot of physical help as it will primarily concern building up raised veg beds, making pathway, helping with pollytunnel/packing shed and compost bin construction. You will not be expected to have high level construction abilities but a willingness to get involved and learn/contribute will be essential. Some veg growing knowledge would be really handy!

Expect really good times but remember this is farm help in winter in the highlands of Scotland and there will be long days in the rain!

    Alojamiento

The accommodation is the community owned hostel - a shared mixed gender dorm that is primarily used by hill walkers. There is a good kitchen and bathroom there so you can cook your own food. If you'd like to the Farm group would be happy to host you for evening meals and provide ingredients for you breakfast and lunches.
