Help Kids Celebrate Italy in Buffalo, NY!
Come to Buffalo and help young Italian-Americans for 5 days in "Little Italy" right here! An Italian Day Camp for 5-10 year olds – the perfect age for living the language! Jump start their Italian with fun and friendships! Free bonus for them? 11-year olds and up return gratis as language assistants and keep on learning! A free bonus for you? You learn English while helping them with their Italian!
Italian magic tricks daily, soccer and bocce, celebrate Roman emperor Augustus Caesar's 2000th and chocolate Nutella's 50th anniversaries, a real Ferrari visit, pizza tossing, cannoli-making, Italian art lessons, soccer, volcanoes, perform 20 songs with gestures, time line of Italian discoveries, Galileo, operas and Michelangelo!
Kids do their own active vocabulary building with multiple Nobel Peace Prize nominee Maria Montessori's hands-on, brain-friendly method, creating a family heirloom – a personalized Italian notebook that returns to camp with them each summer. Favorite words 'pop out' of their notebook onto post-it notes at home becoming part of their every-day lives!
Award-winning state certified Montessori Italian teacher and camp director of 20 years, Judi Mazziotti teaches Italian from September to June to adults and children, making sure they learn while having active fun.
Volunteers work 6 hours a day for 4 days for one week. The weeks without camp would entail many fewer hours of work. Then you would also have the weekend free during camp week. Judi, the camp originator and director, will host a minimum of two volunteers. There may be additional housing offered over and above this listing, but that will be offered in separate listings on this website.
We will naturally arrange several interviews before accepting you as a volunteer, but we are anxious to welcome authentic Italians who care about spreading their language and culture in America.
Aiutate i ragazzi a celebrare l'Italia a Buffalo, New York!

Your English will improve, you will learn the Montessori method of teaching a language to a child.
This includes helping children match bilingual labels to concrete objects organized in baskets on shelves that occur in real life (example: toy foods, verbs, adjectives, vehicles, animals, characters from songs and stories, etc.).
You will make friends and connections for the future, since there are 20-30 adult American volunteers from all areas of life. Volunteers with an interest in teaching or sharing a language would benefit the most. English language learners at an elementary level would also learn much, in a very gentle way.Proyectos con niños

We need native Italian speakers who respect children's love of learning. You will be shown how to help the children learn Italian words through the Montessori method. You will be expected to follow that method as much as possible. You will be asked to supervise children to make sure they are safe at all times.
The children will be placed in groups with 2 adults and 1 older child helper per group of 8 - 10 children. You might be asked to help with playing soccer, with art, cooking, Italian history, singing or dancing or anything talent you might want to share.
I would also like help setting up the camp the week prior to the camp if the volunteer is willing to stay for two weeks.Idiomas hablados

Alojamiento
I myself can host two to three volunteers. I have a very large room with two beds, separated by shelves. There is a dresser and hanging rack to be shared. One bed is a queen size bed, and one is a single bed. Both are sofa beds. I will provide food as well.
There is also the possibility of having a private room with a sofa bed (if my daughter and grand daughter cannot be there -- I do not know yet).
Transportation to and from the camp area will be offered. There are two nice bathrooms with sink and toilet for the volunteers who stay in the double room, nearby but one floor up. There is a guest bathroom on the third floor, near the actual guest room (the room may not be available but the third floor bathroom with tub and shower IS available but must be shared among ALL guests. That bathroom with tub and shower will be available to all the volunteers staying at my house.Algo más...
We will happily take you around to see the amazing sights and visit Niagara Falls and the Frank Lloyd Wright Homes and our shining new Buffalo Harbor area, to museums and places of historical interest, depending on your time and interests. We have had Italian volunteers for several years and their participation has been cherished by the American families of Buffalo.
There are many, many Italian Americans in our town who welcome furthering connections with the country of their heritage – Italy. I will be hosting at least two volunteers. I would like volunteers for two weeks, but the very minimum is the week of August 06 - 10, 2018.
I can furnish you the names and contacts of two Italians who spent time at Judi's house this past summer.Un poco más de información
