    We are a family of 4 .
2 adults and 2 young kids and our dog (Whippet) 3rd child?).

I have an energy/stamina limiting disability and an Autistic child ( emotional regulation can sometimes be a challenge). So things can get loud, busy and hectic very quickly. ( my kids are loud with the usual sibling issues).

As a family we are into music, nature, games, movies and food. Myself and the kids love sitting down to draw or paint.

We are looking to host someone/couple ( double bed ( a child would be ok too as have trundle bed).
to help support our household needs with gardening, painting, tidying/ decluttering/ cleaning, occasional food prep, gardening ( weeding) mild landscape work or house maintenance. We would really appreciate it!
It has all built up over the last few years due to my condition and is starting to become too much for my husband working full time and I to keep up with.

Daily basics are exhausting for myself and needing to manage my energy levels to care for the kids and household needs.

We live on the northern outskirts of Melbourne near the edge of the Yarra Valley, where bush walking is a short stroll away. Lots of parks, kangaroos and local wineries.
Melbourne City is easily accessible by public transport ( bus to train station is 2-3 mins walk ). Train to the city is approx 1hr trip, lots to see and do (botanic gardens, MCG sports museum/AFL football/cricket ( seasonal) zoo, aquarium, Yarra river , immigration museum, shrine of remembrance etc ).
Cafes/ bottle shop / fast food, are around 15-30 mins walk. From our place or a 2 min bus ride.
Kinglake is a bus ride or short car trip away and Healesville sanctuary is around a 45 min drive.
    LGBTQIA+ friendly.
    Prefer non smoking

we are an English speaking Australian household with 2 kids aged 9 and 5.

We are a typical Australian family although, my son is Autistic.

    My kids both attend scouts.
My son is also involved in musical theater classes.
We see family a few times through the week, but don't socialise much on weekends due to trying to catch up with house stuff. A reason we have thought to try hosting. We never get caught up. And would love to get out as a family on the weekend and explore more. Depending on your must sees, joining us is also an option.

I can share skills in, sewing, aquarium maintenance, art, gardening, low waste living, science/education information, hiking and Australian animal and plant information ( our front yard is mostly indigenous plants/some native). I can also teach some piano, karate and tai chi, cooking /recipes etc. Some DIY skills

We would love to learn about different cultures and customs, how families operate, and let the kids learn that there's more outside our isolated life at the moment due to my rest needs.

Having an extra set of hands will mean we can all go exploring together, zoo, city, bush, rural towns, camping etc. I maybe able to give a tour, or you can explore the area at your own pace.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

We can provide you your own private room with a double bed. So couples are welcome.
We do have a trundle bed ( single) so may be suitable for a family with one child.
( unsure if my kids would be happy to share a room) but we also have a swag and camp mattress's if needed too.

The spare room has a bed side with lamp, clock/wireless phone charger and built in wardrobe to store items.
Shared lounge area and Combined playroom/office.

    Shared Bathroom

I am open to preferences on how you would like to work with food. We cook, share etc
I'm happy to provide cooked meals. But will also have days I may need assistance with food preparation or would love to learn how to cook meals from different cultures.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

we are close to public transport ( 2 min walk to bus, to train station) , bush to walk, its not far for a train ride into Melbourne city to explore. Or a bus up to kinglake to explore the mountain. cafes with in walking distance, local wineries to drive to.
There is also options to get to the Vline ( country train/bus) services for longer rural day trips.

we are in the 'middle' of Victoria ( northern outskirts of Melbourne), so options to go exploring by hiring a camper van etc are also possibility. Its approx 4 hr drive east or west to get to either side of Victoria. Around 3hrs north to get to the Murray River.

I try to live a low waste lifestyle, but has been hard with acquiring an energy limiting disability. I just expect people to tidy up after themselves, be kind and courteous. Flexibility is a good thing to and someone whom is autonomous.

Please be mindful my kids are loud! but they are at school during the day and home is very much quieter.
We do have 2 young kids aged 9 and 5 so general 'appropriateness ' in regards to languages, behaviour, movies etc when they are about is needed.
They can often be up early from 5 30am-generally after 6 am. It can be loud. Expect lots of fun and games too.
