  Hi my name is Emma and in 2024 Workaway volunteers provided amazing help sorting, sifting, and organising all the antiquities and items left by the previous owners at my smallholding in central France.
  In 2025, it's time to focus on even more exciting things – Creating an Organic Botanical Space in France where I can grow medicinal plants and herbs and explore biodiversity options, including beekeeping.
  
  Where I Need Help and What I Offer:
  
  Gardening and Land Preparation
  I have two small fields and a garden that need preparation this year for growing a variety of botanicals, including a focus on lavender. This work involves taming overgrown grass, designing planting schemes with areas for reflection, meditation, and simple enjoyment, and tilling the land while improving soil conditions. In the other areas, I hope to build raised beds and create tranquil spaces for rest and reflection. If you have any knowledge of plants or gardening, it would be very welcome, but even if you don’t, as long as you’re physically able, I’d love to work together to bring this dream to life.
  
  DIY and Creative Projects
  I’m also hoping to transform an old barn into a useful space. Anyone skilled with woodworking or general DIY would be incredibly helpful. There is plenty of room for creativity, using the resources already on the smallholding. I would also love to construct a few lean-tos and pergolas, if you enjoy outdoor projects.
  
  Language and Practical Help
  My French isn’t great, so I could use help communicating with locals, as well as handling various practical matters around the property that might require a better grasp of the language and local culture than I have. I’d also like to explore sharing this journey through videos and social media posts, so anyone with those skills would be a great asset.
  
  Cooking and Everyday Help
  Cooking isn’t my strength, so having someone who enjoys preparing meals would be wonderful. Breakfast will be informal, but I’d appreciate help with lunch and dinner for everyone. It doesn’t have to be one person doing it all; if several people want to share this responsibility, that would be lovely – just not me, for everyone’s sake!
  
  What I’m Looking For
  I ask for a minimum of 4 hours of help per day, 5 days a week (though if you prefer working more hours some days and taking an extra day off, that’s fine too). I’m looking for 2 to 4 people at a time, depending on whether you’re coming as a couple, friends, or individuals. Please note; the land preparation, gardening and DIY projects are physically demanding, you need to be physically fit.
  
  Minimum Stay: 2 weeks
  Dates Available: 17th March – 13th June 2025 and 15th September – 31st October 2025
  
  What I Offer in exchange for your help
  You’ll stay in a comfortable farmhouse with two double bedrooms and one twin room. There’s a bathroom with a bath and shower upstairs and a shower room downstairs. I have Starlink WiFi throughout the house. Meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided, though if you enjoy a glass of wine or other drinks, please bring your own.
  
  This is a personal project of mine, Workawayers will only be helping with these private projects in my home and garden and not with any business-related tasks or produce sold, and I’d love your help in making it happen. Together, we’ll create a beautiful, peaceful place that blends the natural world with reflection and creative pursuits. If you’d like to be a part of this journey, please get in touch. I’m excited to hear from you and would give priority to those who can confirm their travel plans and bring skills that align with the help needed.
  
  Note: While much of this work involves manual outdoor tasks (tilling, digging, planting), I can also use help with cooking, language, computer skills and general creative input for which you don’t need the same level of physical ability. For those who need it, there is ground-floor accommodation and an accessible bathroom available.

  You will be sleeping in the main farmhouse which has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and wifi. It is comfortable.
  There is accessible accommodation on the ground floor level.

  It is a quiet rural area which suits me as I'm quiet. There are many lovely areas for walking. I'm happy to give people a lift into the local town and there is a train station with links to Limogues and Montluçon. There is a wolf sanctuary nearby but I would say the main attraction is the peace and quiet. Please note however, we are not on public transport, it is remote.

  I have starlink internet, so its good and stable. Where you can work is flexible.
