The city where he lives is charming, very close to Rotterdam and close to the most beautiful places in the Netherlands (Kinderdijk). Anne stayed with me for almost 2 weeks and it was a great experience. I needed help with a big project, making preparations for a concrete floor. Anne carried out many tasks, including painting a ceiling and destroying a wall, as well as wood construction. Anne is not afraid of new challenges and she learns very fast. She shows a proactive spirit
… read more and a good level of independence. Anne was also very supportive throughout the process, and she kept offering her help even when I said we were done with the tasks. It was very motivating and fun to work together with her, and I can absolutely recommend every host to have her stay. I really enjoyed my time with Walter. He is social, open-minded, honest, and he is always eager to offer his help. Together we built a brick wall construction and installed a large window. This was a big project and we succeeded thanks to Walters help. During the project he had good ideas and suggestions, and showed determination to run the extra

Next to being helpful in the practical things, Walter is also a really fun guy to hang out with, both on and off the work. While we were working together I sensed that we were really a team. Walter has a good sense of humor and a big world view and this made working together very enjoyable, as well as all the hangouts we had. We had many open and honest conversations about a very wide range of topics.
Last but not least, Walter is an excellent cook! He introduced me to Mexican cuisine and he made delicious meals. He can cook just about anything and he is creative in using the ingredients and tools which are available, to get to the best possible result. Since I also really enjoy cooking and trying new food, we had a very interesting culinary exchange in addition to the construction work.

… read more use my skills to the full and improve communication in English. Work is underway on the reconstruction of the old house and it is good to have some experience in this direction. It only took 20 hours a week, so there was plenty of time to explore the surroundings and Rotterdam, which is 15 minutes away by bike. Thank you for a nice experience.
