    *** LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR A WEEK : NOVEMBER 19th to 26th 2023 ***

Hi there! The Community organizes a volunteers' week for Thanksgiving : from Sunday 19th to Sunday 26th of November 2023. We are looking for motivated and open-minded individuals to help on various projects at the farm. During this week, we will: work in the garden and the orchard, plant trees, set up irrigation, seed cover crop in our vineyard, bottle our home-made wine, play with cob and install a new septic system for a tiny house.

Beyond farm work, we like to provide an educational experience through workshops in the afternoons. Workshops may include: bread making, acorn processing, cob building, wild edible foods, beer making, blockprint, wine tasting and games! In the evenings and arrival day, we will have free time / game time. We also love to play pétanque (French bocce ball), corn hole, cards, board games, etc.

We will celebrate Thanksgiving together with our extended community and share delicious food and company.
We are vegetarian and all the members of the community are vaccinated. We only host vaccinated volunteers and will provide vegetarian food during the week.

It would be awesome to have you in the group !

** VOLUNTEERS' FRIDAYS : We also host local volunteers on a daily basis (on Friday afternoons) **

    Hello!

A little about us: We live on a 5-acre farm that serves as a gathering place for community events and workshops. We are dedicated to facilitating continual intellectual growth and encouraging conscientious, reflective, and sustainable living. We host educational lectures, workshops, solstice gatherings, and musical celebrations as the farm.

We are located just outside of the beautiful coastal towns of San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande on the Central Coast of California. Our farm is halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, along the California coast. Our name comes from the Greek word for the place where lives come together, a sort of intersection of souls.

We have a large "main house" that we use for hosting events and additional smaller dwellings where residents and guests stay.

We currently have 25 chickens, 4 goats (including a milking goat), 2 dogs, a large garden and a vineyard. We are growing Grenache and Syrah grapes, and we make our own wine.

We grow (some) of our own food in our large community garden, enjoy eggs and milk from our chickens and goats, and have a solar-powered property.

We have a volunteer cabin that is set up for 1-2 volunteers, which has a bed and bathroom nearby. And plenty of room to camp and put tents.

We have all of the necessary bedding and pillows, but you might want to bring additional blankets or jackets as it gets pretty chilly at night!

We provide healthy food for all of your meals, but you will probably have to prepare your own meals most of the time. We are pretty laid-back and like to give people the opportunity to explore our beautiful area when they come.

We typically plan about 4-6 hours of group work-time per day, and free time the rest of the time. We also offer educational demonstrations in goat cheese-making, beer-making, and coffee-roasting.

We are surrounded by beautiful beaches, wineries, and hikes. If you have a car, this usually makes exploration a lot easier, though we have figured out arrangements for people without cars too.

A little about your hosts: Brandon and Olympe are passionate about permaculture and ecosystems design. Brandon graduated form CalPoly as an engineer and now studies environmental landscape management, and Olympe is a French designer. Before living here they traveled across the US volunteering and learning from different communities and organic farms. Their projects for the farm include: aquaponics, vermicompost, perennial garden, food forest, mushroom growing, natural fertilizers and native wild food experiments.

Please write us and tell us a little about yourself!

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We have a bit of a hippie California vibe, and have cultivated many useful skills for living on a farm. We offer educational demonstrations in beer making, wine-making (though this is a long-term process, but we can offer pointers), bread-making, and coffee-roasting. We also make our own wine and care for our farm animals. If you are interested in learning more about vineyard, chickens and ducks, this is a great place!

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

we are surrounded by beautiful hikes/ wineries/ breweries/ beaches.
We are 5 minutes from the quaint town of Arroyo Grande, and 15 minutes from downtown San Luis Obispo (by car).

There are an abundance of hiking opportunities in the area. For an easy but beautiful stroll we recommend the Bob Jones trail, a wide path that ends at Avila Beach.

We now have a hot tub located at the property (!), but we also have a few natural hot springs nearby that are very fun to visit. One of our favorite activities is soaking in natural hot springs at Sycamore Springs resort, a 15-minute drive away.

If you just want to hang out on the beach, we are 10-15 minutes away from the closest beach (by car). Many people enjoy surfing on our beaches.

If you have a car, this usually makes exploration a lot easier, though we have figured out arrangements for people without cars too.
