    About Us

We are Elisa, Tosca and Isidoro – three Italian-American-German siblings who were born and raised in the countryside near the charming village of Genga, in Italy's Marche region.

We spent our childhood surrounded by nature, animals, WWOOFers and Workawayers, and we'd love to continue sharing our family's home with like-minded travelers.

Our "casa nel bosco" (house in the woods) was built by our father more than thirty years ago. He sadly passed away a few years ago, but the house remains a very special place for us.

We are looking for an independent Workawayer to stay there, help with a few simple outdoor tasks, and keep an eye on the property while enjoying a peaceful rural setting. This could be a wonderful opportunity for a writer, artist, remote worker, or anyone looking to spend some time away from the noise and pace of modern life.

Important: You Must Have Your Own Car

We know the idea of being lost in nature sounds beautiful but the reality is that you will need to get out at least to do some shopping. We don't live that far away but it is a little too far away for us to go more than once every 10 days or so. Having your own transport is essential.

    Food, Heating and Utilities

We will provide some basic pantry items when you arrive. After that, Workawayers are responsible for their own groceries and meals.

Hot water and heating are provided by a wood-burning stove. We simply ask that you leave the same amount of wood as you found when you arrived. Wood can be collected in the surrounding area, as we have always done, or buy it locally if you want to.

There is also an outdoor solar shower, which is wonderful during the summer months.

The house does have an electric water heater. However, electricity costs in Italy have become very expensive, and unfortunately we have had situations in the past where excessive use resulted in unexpectedly high utility bills. For this reason, the electric water heater is normally kept switched off. If you prefer to use it regularly, we can discuss a mutually agreeable arrangement beforehand.

    How Many Workawayers?

In reality, we only need the help of one Workawayer.

However, couples, friends and families are welcome to apply if they would enjoy the experience together. Because additional guests naturally increase the consumption of utilities and household resources without changing the amount of help required, we simply ask that we discuss expectations and practical arrangements in advance so that everyone feels the exchange is fair and comfortable.

    Help Needed

This Workaway is closer to a house-sitting gig than the usual host-and-guest arrangement, as we do not live at the property.

The essential tasks are very simple: watering the flowers and vegetable garden, keeping the grass trimmed around the house using a strimmer/weedwacker or hand tools if prefer.

These are the only tasks that absolutely need to be done.

There are many other small projects around the property that could be tackled if they interest you. We will show you various possibilities, and you can decide how you would like to help.

The schedule is very flexible. We appreciate around two hours of help per day, five days per week, which is normally more than enough to keep everything in good shape.

Everything we ask Workawayers to do is stuff that we and our Dad have always done ourselves.

You (and your friends/partner/family) will be living there mostly alone - there may be an overlap with other workawayers sometimes. We live not to far away and will come by to visit. Of course we are always available to help you with any questions you have. Here you can live in harmony with nature, enjoy the silence, and create your little green space in Italy. You really need to have your own car to get around and explore.

We need help with the maintenance of the exterior of the house. Specifically, tasks include cutting the grass, painting and organizing the tool shed.
If you're interested, you can also cultivate fruits and vegetables.
While there is a lot of work that "could" be done here, nothing "must" be done EXCEPT to cut the grass around the house and keep it looking nice. For this you should know how to use a strimmer/weedwacker or you can cut it by hand if you prefer.
We will show you a number of things that "should" be done here and then you decide whatever project makes you happy.
The work hours are very flexible.
This workaway experience is more of a housesit since we do not live there.
All of the stuff to do is things we (and our Dad) have done by ourselves in the past - we never ask to do things that we haven't done or don't know how to do :)

Located 2 km down a dirt road, our two-story house, has a kitchen, living room, 2 bathrooms, and 2 bedroom. There is no central heating. To warm the space, you'll need to use the stove. We have one very friendly neighbor (although they are not always there). The house is surrounded by nature. There are plenty of trees for you to hang up your hammock
