Jan and Jeanette
When we talked about you to our friends and family we always described you as 'our cool aunt and uncle'. Because immediately you gave us a very warm and family feeling and your openness instantly made us feel at home.
At the same time, there was a good and healthy balance between our nice contact and us as your workforce: every
… read more morning when we heard Jan going to the grotto while whistling along with the birds, we felt the energy to make it once again a positive and productive day. The varied work (olive picking, painting and construction work and our artistic excesses with our homemade lamps) made everyday look different, boredom is not in your dictionary! And our work was always alternated with our pleasant coffee breaks in between.
We also felt a great appreciation for our work, nothing was taken for granted. The cherry on the cake after a busy morning were the magnificent lunches with which Jeanette always managed to surprise us (we will not go into details, let the other workawayers discover this further ;-)). The afternoons we spent to explore the region or to enjoy our private time in our lovely masseria that has been renewed with style. With its three bedrooms fully furnished and a kitchen/living space to share in the middle of the unit, workawayers cannot ask for more.
Jeanette asked us on our last evening 'What did you learn?' And given it an extra thought, we possibly learned even more from your beautiful and elegant personalities. Your view on life, your values and aesthetic eye for detail: you enriched us with just being you.
We will never forget the cozy moments by the fireplace, our opera experience in Lecce and our shared love for good food and wine and many more! Thank you for your generosity, the good talks and laughter and your ability to have expanded our world. We really treasure this new friendship. See you soon! The first workaways we give the full 5-star ranking, they are a fantastic couple which we enjoyed very much. They started during the olive harvest followed by our vegetable garden, outside painting of our Masseria, new build of the outside kitchen, and last but not least also showed their sculpting skills by fabricating outside lamps from domestic
… read more rock. Their affection for hospitality and food was shown several times, they can cook and host a perfect gathering.
We wish a successful 2024.

Corinna was a last-minute helping to harvest the olives and she is a great woman, helpful, and dedicated to the job. She had the right team spirit acting as a leader and co-worker in our harvest crew. Such a kind lady.

We did new things every day and we were challenged in the best possible way. The accommodation in the guest house is great, and we were very happy with the bikes we could borrow. We often went to see beautiful Ostuni and the many interesting surrounding cities of Puglia, when we were off work. Clara and Tamara were the best Workaways Denmark can find. They stayed almost two months with us and we now miss their laughs, happiness, and work skills. They are top.

We had a wonderful stay here in July 2021. Jan and Jeanette are a fantastic couple, very welcoming with their workawayers.
The work was coordinated by Jan, who was great in giving clear and feasible tasks. They mainly consisted of tidying up their garden or the workshop cave. Jeanette was taking care of the lunch and she is an INCREDIBLE cook, a
… read more real master of the oven. The accomodation is also comfortable and cozy, the building a stunning place full of art!
One advice about the location: make sure to plan the shopping carefully, since you will need around 30 minutes by bike (provided by the hosts) to go to the nearest supermarket. Once in Ostuni, there is also the possibility to rent scooters over the weekend, that will be great to explore the beautiful places around. During the working week we went to the sea (30 minutes by bike) and it's stunning, highly recommended.
