I stayed for 3 weeks and helped with Sue's current art project for 25 hours a week, but it didn't even feel like work. Beth stayed with us for two weeks helping daily in my studio on a large sculpture commission. Beth learnt quickly and helped me a great deal taking on the tasks appointed to her with an attention to detail. She also carried out some cleaning jobs I was happy with.

… read more chance to explore much of the region, although she was happy to relax and do indoor activities much of the time. Beth is a gentle, polite, low maintenance guest who fitted in to the household and also enjoyed the company of our cat and dog.

There was plenty of time in the evenings to do our own thing, we (me and the other workaway) went on walks round the beautiful countryside and even managed to watch the whole Harry Potter series! Sue and Greg kindly took us to Milla Milla Falls one day. I still miss Laurence and Lily, and their incredible food and produce I ate. I still can't belive my luck in finding my way to Sue and Gregs at just the right time to help with the art project and sew my little heart out! The tasks didn't feel like work at all because it was what I enjoy doing for fun, and the hours were really flexible depending on how I wanted to structure my day. … read more immediately felt comfortable there. They both are great to be around and I loved hearing their stories or simply watching tv with them. They frequently offered to bring me to any places I was wanting to see. Going on walks and meeting their friends made my experience especially unique and memorable. I could write a whole review just about Laurence and all the fun times I had with him! He has such a personality and I know he will continue to give heavy lap snuggles to any travellers who come through. Lets not forget sweet Lilly: shes such a good and mellow girl, and is so talented at chasing sticks and sometimes bringing them back. I couldn't believe it when Alicia contacted me with "can help with sewing". I thought boy she doesn't know what she's getting herself into here! I had just started a very large sculpture commission that required a massive amount of hand sewing. It was meant to be for her to help, so incredibly timely and sew she did! Alicia was here for three
… read more weeks sewing and binding her little heart out. She often worked more hours than required. I am so thankful to her as she was fast and efficient and in credit to to her I'm a lot further down the track on this mammoth of a job than I would have been otherwise.
Alicia is independent, intelligent, confident and easy to share a space with. Although she only helped on my sculpture project I'm sure she would have embraced any type of work with gusto.
My cat Laurence has never been had so much affection while Alicia was here. He was particularly sad when her stay with us had come to an end.
We'd welcome Alicia back again and perhaps with some luck convince her to live in our region!

On the weekends I got to see lots of waterfalls, kangaroos and beautiful tracks in the area and Sue always offered to drive me if I wanted to see something!

Trenett and Lewis were wonderful workaway guests. They really put their backs into mulching garden beds and making trips back and forth to the dump to collect more mulch. They worked well unsupervised and embraced each task with gusto. They are cheerful and easy going and a pleasure to have around..

… read more the chook house and transformed an old dog kennel into a laying box for the chickens complete with a hinged roof. They enjoy problem solving and are quite handy and creative thinkers.
My partner and I found them very interesting, open minded and interested in a broad range of topics. They are always up for a good conversation around the dinner table and are exceptional cooks.
I hope they return this year to complete the chicken metropolis! I also am hoping to have a large sculpture commission they can help me with as they are good with their hands and love the creative process. My dog Lily will be particularly excited to see them again as they are both fine stick throwers and love animals.

As Sue says, having your own car is good (I don't have), however I didn't have any issue to get there. She also showed me the town and some wonderful spots nearby.

Sue and Greg are excellent hosts. They rescued us twice within a month even though we had contacted them very last minute both times. We helped with weeding, painting, mowing, whipper-snipping, cleaning and planting some trees. They are very flexible with hours, never expected a lot of work, and were generous with provisions. … read more ourselves and had a nice private cabin which we enjoyed, and the property is extremely peaceful. Sue and Greg also let us come up to the house for WiFi whenever we wanted. Ravenshoe is a nice place to be, Sue took us to see waterfalls, a wind farm, a market, and dropped us off for a bush walk where we saw heaps of kangaroos!! Sue and Greg helped us out a lot while in Queensland and we are forever thankful for their hospitality and friendship.
Lissa and Marcus were a great help around our acreage property. They worked independently weeding the garden, loading the trailer and painting garden furniture. Lissa also cleaned the house. … read more by the Cairns art gallery. We were able to use our design and language skills to help deliver files for the book to the printer. We also gave Sue some ideas for website content and then spent over a week sanding and painting Sue and Greg’s large entry verandah. Overall, the experience was a real cultural exchange and we learnt so much during our nightly discussions of Sue’s work with marine debris, ghost nets and indigenous communities. We also had plenty of opportunity to explore the Atherton Tablelands area. We will be maintaining contact with these lovely people!
