Jan was lovely to host; friendly, creative and practical. While he was staying, he built a small fence and two gates to keep our dog from wandering off, using bits of scavenged loose timber. He also did several other small practical jobs and taught us a bit of Catalan. All the best for the South Island adventure.

Beautiful family and house. Very helpful to know all the places near Wellington. Definitely a good place to stay and help with a flexible schedule.

Monique & Chris were an absolute joy to host and are just two genuinely lovely people. They are super easy going and friendly, and everyone in our family, including the kids and pets, really enjoyed having them stay. They are very hardworking, and had no trouble just taking initiative to work out what needed doing to leave our garden in excellent

Emma and Ahmed are kind, warm-hearted and just overall awesome hosts. We stayed with them for 10 days in which they instantly made us feel at home in their cozy and super fun house and we loved spending time with them and their pets Louie and Ivy! Their cooking (and baking) was yummy and we felt very spoiled at all times. The work which never
… read more really felt like work consisted mostly of basic gardening; weeding, pruning and planting some new plants on the freshly mulched bank. Outside of that, Emma and Ahmed went out of their way to show us around, give recommendations and take us on shared hikes which we enjoyed very much. We were even lucky enough to meet their lovely parents and join them at the beach!

Emma’s cooking was a highlight of my stay – her quesadillas and mushroom risotto were delicious. She even invited me to join her family for Christmas lunch, which was an unforgettable experience. Spending Christmas overseas with a local family was heartwarming and a cultural experience I’ll always treasure.
Emma also went out of her way to make my stay convenient and enjoyable, picking me up and dropping me off, and taking the time to show me around the city. Her deep knowledge of the area, paired with her cheerful personality, made exploring Wellington such a joy. I especially loved our bush walks and the fun evening spent playing board game together.
