Description
In the Minervois midway between the beautiful cities of Narbonne and Carcassonne close by the Canal du Midi. Black Mountains to the north, Pyrenees to the south, beautiful beaches to the East, there really is so much to do here. I bought a bakery and am turning it into a craft brewery, with little help from the dog and two cats. That keeps me really busy so the gardening and building renovations (mainly just painting and decorating actually) are getting neglected. Also, lots of my customers speak English so my French isn't improving. If you can help out with any of these, or want to learn how to brew, this is a wonderful place to be! Lac de Jouarres, (swim/kayak/sunbathe) 15 minute walk. Minerve - ancient fortified capital and amazing geology 60 minute cycle. Mediaeval Carcassonne 22 minutes (1€) by train. Roman (and modern) Narbonne 13 minutes (1€) by train. Canal du Midi - 5 minute walk. Homps has 8 restaurants and a supermarket open 7 days a week! Olonzac has restaurants, shops, bars and a weekly market

You'll have your own bedroom and be the only user of the family bathroom unless there are other guests. The living space is a big open plan kitchen/dining/living room with a big terrace and there's a big garden if you need more space!

Eva was a lovely, hardworking guest. In just over two weeks with a little instruction and assistance she achieved so much ! She's keen and quick to learn new skills, and happy to apply them diligently and independently. And as a bonus I learned so much about Mauritius :) Thank you Eva, I hope that you find a host with horses !

Andrew is an amazing host! I really enjoyed my stay there, he's very talkative and you can learn a lot from him and his brewery project! I got the chance to see the whole process and also go to the events where the beer is served, the locals and the towns nearby are great! hoping we can meet again anytime soon!

Alicja stayed for less than two weeks but she did an amazing amount of work! Cleaning, sorting, planting and chopping wood all the while being her sunny, happy, helpful self. If you're lucky enough to hear from her, just say yes (especially if you're near a beach with warm clear water)

This was my first WA experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Labelled a few cans of Andrews delicious beers,cleaned the brewery, made ginger beer, did a bit of DIY, and mulched tree cuttings. Anne is good company and was a willing, hardworking help with all the work we did in the garden and brewery – including making molehills out of mountains and beer from ginger ! She’s a very unassuming guest, a demon card player but easy to host. With her friend she got to explore the local area, meet the residents and make good use of her French.

Mara is hardworking and willing to learn new things. She is very pleasant company and has a lot of travel experience. While she was here she happily helped with gardening and chores but mainly was invaluable in helping to set up (including building the stage) and host an evening concert. Would I host her again ? We had a great time with Andrew for almost 2 weeks. We helped him prepare for his fete with a Dutch blues band, food truck, and lots of beer. Had a great time staying doing a workaway with Andrew.

Undeterred by Covid travel complications Katharina came here for two weeks in July 2021. She is very kind and thoughtful. She helped out with many tasks including staging an event and at a market.
