I've been incredibly fortunate to spend the last three winters helping at the Inn. Ryan and Corina are extremely generous hosts sharing this beautiful property with so many people from around the world. They, along with my friends Andreya, Ana, Ophie, Niki and others, have become like family to me.

Ryan and Corina give you the opportunity to play ultimate Frisbee twice a week at the local brewery. Ryan frequently takes volunteers night snorkeling or to the farmers market. Riding bikes into town is easy and lots of art and culture to be found for such a tiny city.
Prepare to work hard during your 5-hour shifts which generally start at 7:00 a.m. until noon. During yoga retreats and other special functions you may be working different hours or split shifts. Bring your A-game and a can-do attitude. If you don't have a good work ethic, this is not the place for you.
My work day was cleaning and beautifying the main house guest spaces and gardening. Other responsibilities were coffee and tea service, house plant care and propagation, caring for the tropical trees and plants in the nursery, maintaining and cleaning the saltwater pool, breakfast prep and set up, laundry, room cleaning and a million other little tasks. It's a beautiful space to work in and honestly my favorite job ever. I loved interacting with the guests and making sure they were having a wonderful time.
The vegan food is wonderful and the kitchen well stocked with fresh grocery deliveries weekly. You will leave this work away healthier, stronger and much more empowered than you arrived.

Work is scheduled consistently Monday-Friday 7am-12pm. Specifically, my main-job was tending to the hotel and its guests. This includes tasks such as room cleaning, laundry, pool maintenance, gardening tasks, tending to the coffee bar, and cleaning the kitchen. I thoroughly enjoyed my daily tasks, as it was often varied work, and felt as though I had a great support system within Ryan and Corina if I ever needed guidance or had questions.
Outside of work, there are countless amazing things to explore on the island. Some of my favorite activities included scuba diving, swimming, painting, going on hikes, movie-nights, visiting the art museum, biking into town, and playing sports (volleyball, basketball, frisbee).
I will forever cherish my memories made in St. Croix, and owe a huge thanks to Ryan and Corina for making it all possible!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

And the rest of the day is all yours to explore this BEAUTIFUL place with your friends. And last but not least, the hosts, Corina and Ryan are the best hosts I could have imagined. We spent 7 weeks at this incredible Workaway. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and part of 'the family', and it really seems to attract some great people as we've made lifelong friends. The island itself is unreal. It has the most beautiful beaches, great for snorkelling. During our time there we were involved in sanding & painting,

The field is HOT, but with a hat, water and some sunscreen it just meant an extra 5 hours to top up the tan! The group lunches after work were great and were a great way to get to know the other workawayers, as well as Ryan and Corina. Having the work day from 7-12 (as early as that sounds) was actually very ideal, as we missed the heat of the day and also had the entire afternoon to bike into town, play volleyball/basketball, go to the beach, swim in the pool or take a nap!
Ryan and Corina are great, accommodating food requests, doing weekly yoga classes, taking us on night snorkelling adventures, getting involved in karaoke nights and simply including us in their lives on the island. They made a huge effort to show and involve us in their sustainable way of life, and they are both truly inspirational people. This was our first workaway, and I think we will struggle to beat it. We miss St.Croix (and the weather) already!

The Caribbean is so surreal and beautiful. (We snorkeled and sailed for the first time). The Inn so amazing with breathtaking views. (Quite, peaceful , relaxing) . The people we met so loving and helpful and alive with adventure. ( From London, to Denmark, to Sweden and Germany). The places we experienced full of history and stories to tell. I loved the nursery and all the fruit trees they have sprinkled across the property. I worked everyday from 7am-12pm then we all met for an amazing lunch - some of the tastiest (vegan) meals I've had. The afternoons are free for you to do what you like - I'd usually go for a swim then spend time by the pool or on the front porch doing computer work - both of which offer an amazing view + great internet. Other times, I'd bike with friends to the lighthouse or swim in the beautiful ocean! The location is really nice - near the water and the pier is just a bike ride away. Corina and Ryan are amazing hosts. They treated us like family or close friends. Each day begins with a meeting with all workawayers. These meetings start promptly and are formal but at the same time have a relaxed social element that includes some rah-rah time for projects completed and pats on the back for work well done. Ryan and Corina always find a reason for showing their appreciation to their workawayers.
Accommodations are comfortable, private and spacious with spectacular views a few steps away. While we were there, all workers stayed at Mill point, one of several groups of habitable buildings around the property. The architecture is mid-century modern, melded with 18th century ruins. The common area, the Great Room, has a college commons vibe with an enormous screen and projector, kitchen area, and dining table. Lunch is communal, prepared as part of one worker's responsibility. All food items provided are vegan and we had some delightful meals.
Frederiksted is an easy bike ride away. There is one small grocery store where you will have the opportunity to interact with the members of the local community. We were treated very well; after just one brief interaction on the street in downtown Frederiksted, a local man later greeted us like old friends when we happened upon each other at the Mango Festival in the neighboring town of Christiansted.
The pier at Frederiksted is a world-famous diving destination with an amazing population of marine critters to see and interact with. We also snorkeled at Butler Bay which is within walking distance where you can see reef restoration activity that Corina is helping with.
What an incredible experience. Thank you Corina & Ryan! You are wonderful human beings. This was a rewarding work-away experience!

I am a bit late to writing this review, and it is hard to say something that hasn't already been said but I will do my best.
I stayed with Ryan and Corina over the Summer from July to August. It was my first work away experience and I truly could not have asked for a better one. The work is pretty physically demanding, but that makes it all the
… read more more rewarding. It is also so cool to see how much you can accomplish. I did everything from cleaning rooms, to doing carpentry work in the cook house, to power washing and painting the roof of the mill. I learned so many new skills and feel so much more competent with power tools. I also realized that in almost every situation, I was stronger than I thought I was. Like everyone before me has mentioned, expect to work from 7 am to noon, then have a big family lunch, and then the rest of the day is yours. You also get weekends off which is really nice.
While the work was fun and rewarding, what made the experience so great was the people that were there. Ryan and Corina are so kind and open to everyone. They are happy to teach you new skills and support you in the projects that you are working on. I felt so at home while I was staying with them and think that I am a better person now because of their kindness. I also think that good people attract good people, and the people that they have volunteering with them are some of the kindest, most interesting people I have ever met. I had so much fun exploring St. Croix with everyone and now I have friends for life. I hope that someday I will get to return to this work away. If you have the time and the interest in doing a work away, choose this one. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me and I would be happy to talk to you!

I'm writing this quite a bit late (4+ months later), but it still deserves a proper review!
This was my first workaway experience and it was awesome! Every good workaway starts with good hosts, and Ryan and Corina were the best! They provided us with everything we needed (awesome food, an amazing property/place to stay) and so much more (snorkel
… read more gear, bikes, rides to and from town, weekend getaways, etc). Many of us had minimal to sometimes no experience at all with the work we were doing, and one of my favorite things about Ryan and Corina was their patience with that. Instead of expecting perfect work out of us and nagging us when we messed up, they gave us the time and guidance to figure it out. They understood we would mess up from time to time and there was no shame in that. They were very easy-going and that made doing the work much more enjoyable/ less stressful (especially with it being a first-time workaway gig)! The work we did varied wildly; lots of different things to do! We did landscaping, gardening, carpentry, electrical, wall-making, brick-laying, painting, cleaning, power-washing, etc! If you're looking to pick up some skills in any of these types of things, this is a great place for you!
The other workawayers were equally awesome! There was anywhere from about 8-15 of us there at time, and we all stayed in the workawayers palace! One of my main requirements was doing a workaway that had a bunch of other workaways there that I could meet, laugh with, and learn from. This place had exactly that! It was awesome being able to meet and get to know everyone there and is something I will remember for a very long time! After our work hours, we would have an incredible lunch, hang out for a bit, and do some sort of fun afternoon activity. Most days that was snorkeling/diving at one of the many incredible dive locations right near the property, going to the beach/into town, or hang by the pool. Sometimes we would play board games or watch movies. Weekends were pretty chill, sometimes it was filled with the same activities as during the week, a couple times we got to explore other parts of the island, and sometimes we filled it with SCUBA (which I highly recommend doing while your there!). All in all, we had a lot of fun, and there are plenty of awesome things to fill your time with.
Thank you Ryan and Corina for making this such an awesome experience for so many of us!

I was of course excited to be doing all of those things but I put an emphasis on together because that’s what was really the most important to ME specifically. It almost didn’t matter what we were doing but for the first time in my life I consistently woke up every morning knowing that today was going to be a good day and that was because of the people I was with. Even when I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do, and that was just the effect that FLI had on me.
Thanks you so much Ryan and Corina for getting back to me, teaching me, working with me and most importantly , hosting me and all the other Workawayers. Your property is amazing and you guys are too! Thanks for a truly life changing experience.

I stayed on St. Croix for two months, from mid-April until mid-June, which felt like a great time frame to travel. I had enough time to experience various parts of the island, get to know other workawayers, and get scuba certified, which is something I would highly recommend. My first-time travel nerves melted away almost the moment I got off the plane thanks to the hospitality of Ryan, Corina, and the workawayers they were hosting. The accommodation is lovely no matter where you stay on the property, which boasts sweeping views of the West coast of the island and Butler Bay from nearly any point. All of the food is vegan, and I can assure you all of the food is tasty. I had never followed a vegan diet prior to my arrival on the island, and to this day I cannot remember eating a bad meal.
Expect to work from seven until noon every weekday performing all kinds of tasks from landscaping, tree planting, painting, sanding, watering, cooking, cleaning, and general construction and destruction. On weekdays after work, everyone eats a big lunch together and then is free for the remainder of the day. Though the work is a bit strenuous on occasion, it is very rewarding and allows you to learn a variety of relevant life skills. It additionally leaves you with more than enough time to get out and explore on weekday afternoons and weekends.
As I mentioned before, I would highly recommend getting scuba certified while on St. Croix, as the underwater wildlife is unbelievable and scuba diving just allows you to see things that you wouldn’t ordinarily be able to see, even with a snorkel. That is not to say that the St. Croix snorkel scene is bad, because it is quite the opposite. I was able to snorkel during the day and night at both Butler Bay and the Frederiksted Pier, and was amazed to see turtles in abundance, tarpon, octopus, squid, and fish boasting colors which I didn’t think were on the spectrum. Aside from these activities, I have fond memories of exploring the island via rental car with other workawayers, hiking, biking, kayaking, travelling to the stunning Buck Island, the botanical gardens, playing frisbee, volleyball, and attending book talks, dance parties, farmers markets, and so much more.
I feel extremely grateful to have stayed with Ryan and Corina for the amount of time that I did, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to any workawayer with any level of travel experience. Please feel free to message me with any questions you might have, as I would be happy to provide further information. Happy travelling!

I am very late on this review but my life has finally settled enough (and I've found consistent and strong enough internet lol) to finally send this out! I spent 3 months at this workaway and my time with Ryan and Corina and the rest of the workawayers was dreamlike! The property is amazingly beautiful with so many tropical plants and flowers and

It’s an animal lover’s paradies :) And you have a constant view of the Caribbean ocean! So it’s actually paradise in general. The colonial artchitecture of the property is really beautiful and Ryan and Corina have done a great job of working with their natural environment to update the property into an extremely asethetically pleasing space. They are extremely impressive people who take on any task or challenge with grace and wits. I find them very inspiring and I feel super honored to have been able to work with them!
Okay now about the actual work! Ryan and Corina dealt out tasks that were very manageable and even fun! I assisted Corina with some administrative computery things, and also did quite a bit of organizing, some brick-laying, various cleaning projects, carrying heavy items about, some plant nursery things and countless other duties which I now can’t recall, but definitely improved me as a person. We had family lunches on the days we worked - which were always really amazing vegan meals. The food situation is absolutely fantastic. I wasn’t even vegetarian - or truly interested in giving up meat/dairy before coming to St. Croix - but spending time at this workaway really inspired me to pursue veganism. Like, the food is THAT awesome.
I became quite strong, learned a billion new skills and interesting perspectives, and definitely gained a tan that lasted months and months while on St. Croix :) At the time I was with Ryan and Corina the schedule was to work 7am to noon, five days per week, which was a really lovely schedule and left you tons of free time to do whatever you like in the afternoons and weekends such as bike to Frederiksted, hike to the nearby lighthouse, go snorkeling/diving, soak in the Caribbean beauty, etc. The other workawayers were really interesting, friendly and inclusive as well :)
I became dive certified while on the island and snorkelling was definitely a favorite daily activity. Butler Bay is a 1 minute walk from the property and full of divine sealife! I recommend spending as much time in the water as possible - if you’ve never snorkelled before this is 100% the place to get started. Ryan lovesssss snorkeling and is full of information (as is Corina) so they are great water hosts to take you out and about.

Ryan and Corina are both extremely passionate people, whether that be about veganism, environmental conservation, or ultimate frisbee. Ryan was so excited to go night snorkeling with us one night that despite his freshly twisted ankle, he came hobbling down the steep hill towards the bay, limping and crutch in hand. My last day there, Corina organized a fun little sushi night, where we all made our own rolls and watched a slideshow with pictures of everyone from their stay. I was there for Thanksgiving, and wow what a feast we had. Corina started planning dishes and who would prepare what over a week beforehand. The afternoons and evenings prior to that Thursday were spent in the kitchen, everyone’s hands full whipping up delicious vegan dishes. We had 3 long tables full of food that everyone had come together to prepare and it was amazing. We finished off the evening doing Zumba in the main living room. They were always inviting everybody out on their adventures, and if you wanted to do something specific on St. Croix, they would always give you all the info you needed to do so (or even accompany you!) They provided such a large plethora of bikes for everyone to use, which was an absolute treat to be able to explore the island at your own leisure! Corina made the experience extra special by putting on little events sometimes for the whole crew to come together and have a good time. One night we had a "vegan sushi-rolling party"😆.
Consider yourself lucky if you get the opportunity to stay at the inn. I sure do, and would love to be able to come back in the future some day!

Eda jumped in with both feet. She's strong, helpful and considerate. It was great to have her here and we'd happily welcome her back. Eda helped with sanding, painting, chipping out old plaster and grouting between natural stones and she handled both a paintbrush and heavy power tools well.

What an amazing volunteer opportunity! Ryan and Corina are such kind hearted people who care about the environment, health, and you as a person. I came with the intentions of working on hands on projects and received just that. I really appreciated the balance of work and individual time. As for the accommodation, I couldn't have asked for anything better. I received a clean, private room with a very comfortable bed and beautiful views of the landscape and sea. I got the opportunity to learn about vegan cuisine and practice my cooking skills and have remained a vegan. Overall, I am so grateful to have met Ryan and Corina and the chance to visit the beautiful island of St. Croix. I wish nothing but the best for them and their goals.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Do yourself a favor and beg to come here. The location is beautiful, the projects are interesting, organized and tailored to your strengths, and Corina and Ryan are amazing. Butlers Bay, at the base of the property, was always available for an afternoon or evening of swimming or snorkeling. They even had gear that you could borrow and would even accompany you on snorkeling excursions. The glow worms at night and the ball coral splooge are memories I couldn’t get anywhere else. During the stay-at-home order we could arrange movie nights, pool parties or group dinners for us.
Eating vegan with people that know how to cook and enjoy food is a good experience for everyone to have. Having them to teach you to cook is even better. You won’t be disappointed or feel like you are missing out. A couple of their recipes I’m still making now that I’m back home.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Tanner was fantastic. We so appreciated having him here with us. He took initiative, completed tasks with ease and was a pleasure to get to know. We hope he comes back and you'll be fortunate if you have the chance to host him.
What fabulous people! Chuck and Jo-Anne worked hard and fit in like family. They are tremendously respectful, helpful, and dedicated. We were so glad when they extended their stay with us. Outside the property exploration of St. Croix was something out of a brochure. Miles of scattered ocean beaches & coastal rocks allowed for awesome evening strolls right out the gates. Caught some stellar views of nearly the whole island and it's white sandy beaches from rain forest hilltop summits tooling around on the bike they generously offered to let me use during my stay. Beyond the break + snorkel gear I was greeted daily by sea turtles, rays and saw a small handful of sharks swimming among thousands of reef fish.
I already miss my evening sunsets from the main house porch there on the property... and hope to return in the not too distant future.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

The experience is similar to a close family where everyone helps out whenever it's called for. They went out of their way encouraging us to join them for dinners, outings, game nights and other activities. If we chose not to eat meals with them, we were free to cook on our own as well. Excursions included day or night snorkel, Sunday brunch in Christiansted, swimming in Butler Bay, bicycle riding, grocery shopping, farmers market, and many other adventures around the island. If you choose to stay back at the Inn, it's a peaceful place to enjoy the scenery, read a book while relaxing on the front porch or a walk along the coast, beach combing of course. We tagged along many times when Ryan and/or Corina went Christiansted and were free to roam around town while they took care of other business there. At times there are cycle tours that come from cruise ships for a historical tour of the place. Feel free to join in on a tour for the history. They may have friends or guests show up for meals, but they still include Workawayers at the table. It was one of most wonderful all around experiences we have had in our travels.
