Positive, always smiling, active, hardworking, disciplined, athletic.....Mechiel lived with us for 1 week as a digital nomad. Living with him was very pleasant and completely uncomplicated.
He completed tasks quickly and thoroughly, was a pleasant roommate and we learned a lot about life, culture, music and languages of South Africa with him.

During her stay, Águeda mainly helped us with cleaning and tidying up around the house and garden. She has a quick perception and did all the work reliably, quickly and thoroughly. Águeda showed great interest in the German language and culture and was a wonderful teacher of Spanish and English!

The house is situated in Karlsbad, a village near Karlsruhe, with shops and anything that you might need less than a 10 minute bike ride away. In the outskirts there are multiple beautiful forests and the ruin of

The work was little and easy. Cleaning windows and mirrors, helping in the kitchen, going for groceries... with Sonja always attentive like a mother, talking about travels, cultures and practicing my german/her spanish. I got sick for a couple of days an she didn't even let me work ; ).
In conclusion, a pleasant stay that I recommend to everyone.

Estuve 12 días con Sonja, Doré y Lino. Fue una estancia maravillosa, con mucho cariño y largas conversaciones.
La casa está en Karlsbad, un pueblo cercano a Karlsruhe, con tiendas y todo lo que necesites al menos de 10 minutos en bici. En las afueras del pueblo hay varios bosques preciosos y la ruina de una antigua iglesia.
El trabajo fue poco y fácil. Limpiar ventanas y espejos, ayudar en la cocina, hacer la compra... con Sonja siempre atenta como una madre, hablando de viajes, culturas y practicando mi alemán/su español. Me puse mala un par de días y no me dejó trabajar ; ).
En conclusión, una estancia agradable que recomiendo a cualquiera. Espero volver a veros pronto, y que nos encontremos en nuestros viajes.

Our first experience as workawayers was with Sonja, Doré and family. Without any doubt was the best first experience that someone could ever have! Thank you family for received us during a week and shared so much with us. We spent such a beautiful days, it was a week in which we exchanged experiencies and cultures of our countries. In June 2018 we had the pleasure to host Jadranka and Cristian who had been travelling for nearly ten months in Asia. On their way back to Chile they visited us for one week. We had a fantastic week together spending our common time with several activities like visiting the international tete-a-tete festival in Rastatt or showing around some nice
… read more places of the northern part of the Black Forest. During this week our guests took care of the house, they cleaned the rooms, the bathroom, the kitchen and served us delicious meals in the evening. We also cooked together, both typical Chilean and German dishes like Choriana or Schlachtplatte mit Sauerkraut.
One night Doré invited some business colleagues for a barbecue, Cristian only asked when we planned to eat. When we met in the evening, Jadranka and Cristian served a great barbecue. This was really unbelievible! Cristian is a really good cook!!
We learned a lot about Chile and life there and of course Sonja could speak and improve her beloved Spanish because they were very patient teachers. Since Doré does not speak Spanish, there was also ample opportunity for all to speak and improve our English. In the end it was really a pity that we could spend only one week together. For us it is always a pleasure to meet such open minded and helpful people as Jadranka and Cristian.
We are still dreaming of the Choriana!
Im Juni 2018 hatten wir das Vergnügen, Jadranka und Cristian zu beherbergen, die fast zehn Monate in Asien unterwegs waren. Auf dem Rückweg nach Chile besuchten sie uns für eine Woche. Wir hatten eine fantastische Woche zusammen und verbrachten unsere gemeinsame Zeit mit verschiedenen Aktivitäten wie dem Besuch des internationalen Tete-a-tete-Festivals in Rastatt oder der Besichtigung einiger schöner Orte im nördlichen Teil des Schwarzwaldes. Während dieser Woche kümmerten sich unsere Gäste um das Haus, sie putzten die Zimmer, die Küche, das Badezimmer und servierten uns leckere Mahlzeiten. Wir haben auch gemeinsam gekocht, sowohl typisch chilenische als auch deutsche Gerichte wie Choriana oder Schlachtplatte mit Sauerkraut.
Eines Abends lud Doré einige Geschäftskollegen zum Grillen ein, Cristian fragte nur, wann wir essen wollten. Als wir uns am Abend trafen, servierten Jadranka und Cristian ein Super Barbecue. Das war wirklich unglaublich! cristain is a really good cook!!!
Wir haben viel über Chile und das Leben dort gelernt und natürlich konnte Sonja ihr geliebtes Spanisch verbessern , denn Jadranka und Cristian sind sehr geduldige Lehrer. Da Doré kein Spanisch spricht, gab es auch reichlich Gelegenheit, Englisch zu sprechen und zu verbessern. Am Ende war es wirklich schade, dass wir nur eine Woche zusammen verbringen konnten. Es ist für uns immer ein Vergnügen, solche aufgeschlossenen und hilfsbereiten Menschen wie Jadranka und Cristian zu treffen.
Wir träumen immer noch von der Choriana!

We also practice English and Spanish, even French! We learned phrases in German and in the local dialect. We were able to cook together German and Chilean food. This was one of the best experiences! Everyone greeted me with kindness and enthusiasm, and I felt very much at home. It was nice, too, to discover that we all shared a passion of travel and of languages! :D
The work – should I even call it ‘work’ at all? – consisted mainly of helping around the household, but those tasks only took a couple of hours, and on many days they offered to take me on outings instead of working. The atmosphere was very friendly and I felt very much appreciated.
