At the beginning of February, we stayed with Deb and Rusty in Apollo Bay, and it was an unforgettable experience. Their hospitality made us feel right at home, and they had countless fascinating stories to share. We truly immersed ourselves in the authentic Australian lifestyle, which was delightful, exciting, and absolutely delicious!

Deb and Rusty are the very warm and friendly hosts we met. We had a wonderful three weeks. We eat together almost every day and share each other's journeys and food. They are very experienced travelers and live a very self-sufficient life. This is the life we want to learn and aspire to.

… read more English and let us know more about plants and Australian animals. It was only in their large garden that we saw wild koalas so many times in Australia. We cooked together and enjoyed the vegetables they grew themselves. They also took us on their boat to go fishing. Although the two of us were severely seasick, the fish they caught and cooked were really delicious. There are so many first experiences and good times to recall. When we were about to leave, we also received a lot of help from them when we wanted to find work and accommodation in Apollo Bay. We are very grateful for all of this things. Deb and Rusty were the best host I could hope for. They were always cheerful, friendly and warm. On top of that they have such interesting experiences and I truly enjoyed having conversations with them. They took me with them to whatever they’re participating so I was able to interact with other Australians which was one of the things I liked the

They also cook amazing food and I was excited for every meal. I’m very happy that I had the opportunity to stay at their place and would definitely want to come back if I had another chance.

Deb and Rusty were incredibly sweet and accommodating for my visit. They allowed me to stay on very short notice and were incredibly welcoming. There's plenty of work to do around their house and garden, but they never expected much. They shared delicious meals made mostly with food from their garden. … read more topics including sustainability, traveling, sailing, cooking, and animals. While staying here, I saw my first wild koala and a few wallabies as well as so many beautiful birds. Deb and Rusty were my first workaway hosts so they will always have a special place in my heart. I did different kinds of garden work but their garden is so huge it's a never ending story. Deb and Rusty are bot fabulous cooks, their Asian food to die for. I also learned a new way of making sour dough bread, thanks for that as well!
