Where to start! This was my first work exchange and it was definitely a great way to start it off. I was nervous coming in at first but Francois is very hard NOT to get along with, so it was very easy for me to warm up to the new environment. … read more humor. It's a very peaceful place to be and great to spend with someone you can laugh with. We had a great time sharing wine with pistachios and saucisson almost every night :)! The people in the village and nearby villages are very nice as well. Also I recommend having a Kahuna massage with Cecille! C'est tres bien! Inès' presence was a real joy! Respectful, attentive, always ready to help. His creativity and involvement were truly magical. We also had a lot of deep discussions on a lot of different topics. We cooked for each other, and she makes amazing recipes. Consider asking him to make a zucchini/chocolate brownie !

… read more a brand new (pink...) metal clamp on my workbench, a board to store tools, and so many other things. My neighbors were also very happy to meet her, and are delighted with the little gifts she painted for them!
She was also involved in the village school, and the children have fond memories of the art session.

I was melancholy when she left, I miss her a lot, but I'm sure our paths will cross again!

We had lot of deep conversations, about everything and nothing, going to the (very cold) river for swimming, drinking wine and beer (prepare your stock, she's thirsty), doing some brasilian dance because of parties and hamlet market events, etc...

Staying with François was a wonderful experience! François is very friendly, open, funny and easy to talk and live with. He makes sure you feel at home (don't ask him if you can eat this or that, the answer will be 'I told you in the beginning, the only rule is that there are no rules so you don't have to ask me that!').
We did many fun things
… read more together, from playing different games, having a picknick with a breath taking view, having French apéros every day (!!), watching movies, cooking together, eating together, going to different markets and much more. We could even use his car to go to the mountains to do a hike there, we rented bicycles and could use his bicycle too. The area is super beautiful, I really enjoyed cycling/driving/walking around.
And I almost forgot; the work. Really something you would almost forget since François prefers to do fun things together instead of working ;) The work was really easy, and we could work whenever we wanted and could do several things, such as removing wallpaper, removing lino, building an ikea closet. We also helped with groceries and cooking, things I didn't really perceive as working and I also enjoyed doing (besides, by doing the cooking ourselves we could decide what we would eat ;) ).

Wow, what an amazing few weeks. Staying with François was one of the best decisions I made travelling France. He made so much of an effort for me, in being patient and helpful with my french, in showing me so many beautiful sights, gladly introducing me to his friends (all so friendly!), taking me to local events, and putting on the french apéro
… read more (with plenty of beer and wine) every night!! He went above and beyond to make me and my other fellow workawayers feel at home and comfortable in his lovely house.
He's so sociable, so smiley, so easygoing and intelligent in his conversations. The work I did in my opinion wasn't enough to repay the generosity François showed me during my time there- I was mostly removing wallpaper while he worked, we also removed Lino from his floor, deweeded his garden, and installed some furniture.

She plays guitar, enjoy biking (check the brakes for her...), enjoy motobiking to see beautifull landscapes and pick wild strawberries, do shopping on the small markets around, and even lay under the stars to see comets ! She challenged me for a cold (very cold) river swimm, and she won !
Oh, and she's also able to work ! Outside for removing weeds, inside for removing wallpaper and build some Ikea furnitures !

I dont know where to start, Francois is just amazing!!! Not only has he taught me a lot of stuff but he showed me around the whole area from one valley to the other and also all the people that he knows. … read more mountain bear of them all, a truly kind hearted person. I even spent christmas and new year at his new place and we both got to experience a communal new years party with us not knowing one single person. A nice experience. During the time i spent with him we mooved houses, we finished two bedrooms at his new place so it was sleepable which was very good as the drive was an hour in another valley so it made it easier to continue the work, living there. We mainly worked on taking off wallpaper, making holes to put new electric cables and coating to hide the holes. Francois is really easy going with the work, so you will have a lot of spare time at this place. The place is amazingly beautiful, with stunning views over the mountains. You can do lots of hiking in the area, always with this amazing view that took my breath away every time i turned my head. If you have the opportunity i would highly recommend a visit, not only for the views but also to get to know Francois in person. I had uncountable interesting conversations with him, he is very knowledgable and has interest in all sorts of subjects and not to forget, he has great humour. I will come back one day for sure!
So much to say! Wenche is an extraordinary person, full of strength but also full of sweetness. She travels with Duque, a very old English bulldog. It changed my perspective on dogs. Vicky, meanwhile, is a wonderful woman. She learns very quickly, is able to organize things, give you new ideas and take care of yourself. And all this with his bright smile. Whether for collective life, for work or for leisure, she knows how to invest and does it with pleasure. She is natural, spontaneous and sporty. She enjoys hicking as much as sitting on a sofa to knit or sew. His breads and cookies are really excellent, as are his cooking recipes. Hmmm ... Vicky's cookies <3 !
She is both able to manage the tasks you give her, or to follow the letter of the instructions you give her. She is so empathetic that sometimes it is not worth asking her something, she is already doing it.
We have together prepared two rooms in my new house (ceiling plates, peeling off wallpaper, etc.), dismantled and moved old beds and old cupboards, refurbished a dining room, made slits in the walls, patched up coating holes, and so many other things.
She shared with me the Christmas evening with a seafood meal, as well as the Christmas Eve evening organized in my small village. We went out to concerts and parties, and she dances with beautiful energy and a great joie de vivre.
She also took care of the Christmas decoration, and fortunately because my tastes and my capacities in the matter are quite bad. She even painted a Christmas tree on the old wallpaper in the dining room (with my agreement, of course;)). She has real artistic talents and I really enjoyed the painting and the candle holder that she made for me!
Thanks to her, I also learned some Norwegian card games, and I even won one or two games! We also spent many evenings chatting on so many topics. And I loved his travel stories with little anecdotes that allowed me to travel too. She speaks French very well, but also English, Spanish, and of course Norwegian. I improved my English thanks to her.
I missed her a lot when she left, and be careful because you will miss her too. As well as Duque!

François is a big bear with a big heart! He can be very funny and also very deep thinking, thats why we had a lot of thoughtful conversations.
This 3 weeks were full of funny car rides, concerts, delicious food, deep conversations and a lot of little adventures:)
With him we learned so much e.g. new recipes, new people and new points of view.

We spend almost 2 weeks with him. Days were always different : we walked in the vallée du biros, in the nearest villages, we did shopping and the great market of st girons, we even did a concert evening in the relais montagnard he will certainly introduce you!
For the working moment, it wasn't hard at all, François is a relax person and will never exploit you. We went to his house in Segalas to remove wallpaper, break some roof and prepare the electric installation. There is a lot to do but sure he will find workawayers and people to help him. Because even work wasn't boring with him and he knows a lot of people in the region. As said above, and we think the formulation is great, it's kind of knowing a celebrity!

It was never boring. He's such a funny person that even the most normal things like going to the shop was great fun. We visited his friends, went to markets, concerts and dinners together. All people around him were very friendly and interesting.. And I'm glad that I had the opportunity to meet them.
He will never let you do the hard work or treat you like he's your boss. You're a team and you share all work.
I helped with things like removing wallpaper or some wood panelling and I loved it :)
Every evening after work we shared a meal, watched a movie or had an interesting conversation (often above a glass of good red wine :)).
Btw I'm still dreaming about his galletes filled with grilled vegetables and cheese or his almond cookies.. Something like this you will get just once in your life, so don't miss it!

She helped me on my future house, removing some weird wallpaper and choosing Ikea furniture. She was able to organize the work and was very proactive person.
