I'm from a small island in Atlantic Canada and have come to Europe on a one-year, Italian 'working holiday' visa. I love being outdoors, though I prefer weather which is colder than summer 2023 in Italy! After abandoning an almost-completed engineering degree I spent the past five years building an organic (uncertified) market garden; primarily, intensively grown specialty cut flowers. I appreciate a mindful approach to agriculture rich in traditional wisdom but not afraid to adapt. I prefer work with variety and social interaction (animals count!). I love cooking and get excited by fresh-picked, seasonal ingredients.

| A little bit of everything |
We ran our little farm with a high (sometimes foolish) degree of self-sufficiency and gained hands-on experience in sowing/propagating, growing, harvesting, selling, and storing vegetables and cutflowers; keeping hens, ducks, and bees; raising, dispatching, butchering, and curing pigs; building, maintaining, growing in, and (emergency) heating a greenhouse/polytunnels; operating, and (sometimes) maintaining a tractor and farm implements; preparing, cooking, fermenting, and baking with whole (often vegetarian) foods; and renovating a (wood-framed) barn, turned cottage, turned house.
Past work (which feels like past lives) includes bussing tables, kids camps, program coordination, mfg plant design and maintenance, and 3D drafting.
