Hi, I'm Rubie! I'm currently on a trip around the world, starting in Asia, moving through Europe, and my last stop will be Central & South America, before returning home to Australia at the end of 2025.

I love to be with nature, use my hands, learn new skills and I love to cook and eat!! One of my favorite things is to share a meal.

I’m interested in plants and especially fungi. I love to be by the ocean, and I would really love to get some more experience fishing! (and other food gathering skills). I love animals and have experience with milking cows, cattle, chickens, ducks, and i adore dogs.

In my travels I’m looking to gain knowledge of life in other places, and I love to take on local language. I’m currently a beginner in Spanish, but one goal of my trip is to become more confident to speak.

I wish to live a sustainable life with purpose. I'm interested to see the ways in which people of different parts of the world achieve this.

I lived on a permaculture farm in Australia for 2 years, I really value this time, I learnt so much! We took on workawayers, short and long term, so I’m very familiar with the atmosphere in a volunteer based work/living place.

Looking forward to whereever workaway will take me :)

Quais são suas habilidades?

After living on a permaculture farm in Kangaroo Valley, Australia, for ~2 years, I gained a lot of experience in farm life: vegetable growing, varied animal care, small scale dairy cow systems, food preservation/pickling, cooking for large groups, co-exisiting in a small community, gathering firewood, and other farm labour. I really enjoyed this time and want to do more!

At home I enjoy yoga and mediation, I am a DJ and music nerd, I love reading, drawing, and crafting. I am really interested in furthering my skillset in farm work, and other skills like carpentry, sewing and making music/jamming.

My period / menstruation can sometimes be painful or debilitating to the point I cannot work. Maintaining a stress free life with enough quality food, movement and sunshine greatly decreases my struggle!

While this may not significantly affect me in the time I work with you, please note I only wish to volunteer with a host who will acknowledge my limited capacity as required.
