Richard:
What motivates me is the opportunity to be free and to help and connect with new people. The satisfaction I get from building new connections, realising shared goals and living freely in the world represents a lot of the happiness I hope to get from everyday.

Mara:
Happiness for me comes from a variety of things in life. Some of them extremely small, such as waking up with the sound of chirping birds in the spring, to the timeless connections I form with people. I’m motivated by people’s kindness, and my own desire and initiative to protect the planet and all sentient beings.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Richard:
I have bucketed my expertise, experience and abilities below into:
- Specialist
- Competent
- Average

Specialist:
- Marketing - (Before leaving to travel, I had worked in large global marketing agencies and smaller creative production agencies for the last 10 years. This gives me a lot of experience and knowledge of how to attract audiences to a product or service, and think about what it is that you offer in the most compelling way).
- Software Development - (In the aforementioned agencies, I always worked in the data and technology parts of the business. Alongside side projects, this gives me a strong data and web development skillset).

Competent:
- DIY & Gardening - (To make some extra income in my twenties, I worked for the gig economy platform 'Task Rabbit' and was employed over 120+ times to help people with everything from clearing their garden, landscaping, mounting pictures, erecting trellis's, building furniture and much more. As such, I am very practical and hands on.)
- Teaching - (I have a background in sports coaching and enjoying teaching people of my own age or children new skills and giving them confidence).

Average:
- Cooking & Cleaning - (I am very happy and perfectly capable at cooking and cleaning, however, there would certainly be people better than me at both).

Mara:
I have a career background in project & product management as well as people management. Therefore, my strengths lie in working with people of all ages, incredible attention to detail, planning and delivering projects on deadline, helping teams be productive and efficient, as well as working well together and delivering results within given timelines/targets. Overall, hard working, friendly and love to complete a task :)

Aside from my career, I am:
-A keen yoga student (soon to be a certified yoga teacher)
-Has an eye for aesthetics (competent in things like painting, drawing, crocheting, any sort of crafts)
-Speaks fluent English, conversational Spanish, fluent Romanian
-Keen & knowledgable gardener (both vegetables and ornamental plants and flowers)
-Great with animals (not just pets)
-Loves cooking and making up recipes
-Tidying up (Clean house, clean mind!)

Both: We have quit our jobs and started this journey through Latin America in order to connect with different cultures, be in nature every day if possible and get away from the prescriptive capitalist society we live in.

Richard: I am working on a side project called https://www.nowasteddays.io - a mindful daily planner that anyone can use to improve their self-assurance and self-awareness. This kind of thing plus my love of sports (principally football, ice hockey and cricket) and 60/70's soul & disco give a good indication of what I am like and who I am :)

Mara: My dream is to open a retreat centre in a part of the world that offers people access to nature, sustainable living (through growing our own food on the land, promoting a zero waste policy and up-cycling before recycling) and brings like minded individuals together to connect over yoga, mindfulness, nature, charity, animals and nature. Travelling through Latin America has given me a great insight into how such a place could be run in a remote location, but I'd like to learn more about how this could also integrate with the local communities.
