I'm a calm, respectful and relaxed person! I like traveling, discovering new cultures and learning foreign languages. Furthermore, I'm aware of the importance of preserving nature and all forms of life on planet Earth. Sustainability always!

I like pets because they are loving and cute. They deserve all the care, protection and admiration. Cats and dogs are wonderful!
As a workawayer, I have a lot of experience in Pet Sitting and House Sitting when hosts travel or need someone to keep company, feed and walk their beautiful pets.

Furthermore, I have experience in helping people with mobility difficulties, recovering their health or keeping company with people in third age. I'm a good listener and I like to learn from the lessons that other people have learned throughout their lives.

Regarding volunteer work, my experiences were at Cancer Research UK (Cambridge), workaways in France, Germany, Canada, Finland, Spain, Ireland and Scotland. All volunteering experiences have been rewarding, an opportunity to improve my social skills, meet new families, make new friends, broaden my view of the world, learn languages and cultures from different countries.

I have a master's degree in Development and Environment, as well as a degree in Electrical Engineering. Also, specialist in Industrial Property. Therefore, I work online as an Industrial Property consultant (registering brands and protecting inventions such as patents, software (apps) and industrial designs). Additionally, I was a university professor and taught operational research, intellectual property, calculus I, finance, statistics and production management in Brazil.

I like all types of food, whether vegetarian or not. I don't smoke! I don't have allergies, just high blood pressure that I control with medication.
My hobbies are cooking, learning foreign languages and learning about wellness (massage, cupping and auriculotherapy).

Miguel a passé 3 semaines dans ma maison et nous avons eu un très bon contact et une bonne entente. Miguel est un homme d’une grande gentillesse, toujours prêt à aider avec le soucis de bien faire le travail. Nous avons travaillé un peu dans le jardin (c’est l’hiver, donc pas grande chose à faire ) mais il est doué pour passer le Kärcher et même… read more s’il ne connait pas beaucoup du jardinage, il est ouvert pour apprendre et pour bien faire.
J’avais aussi des peintures à faire dans un appartement que je loue, et c’était une première expérience pour Miguel. Il s’est bien appliqué, même si cela prenait beaucoup de temps.
Dans les loisirs il était intéressé pour une visite de la ville de Poitiers et nous avons aussi passé toute une journée, en compagnie de 2 étudiantes égyptiennes, a explorer les environs de Poitiers, a écouter un concert de Noël, et un ciné-concert de Chaplin et Buster Keaton.
Miguel a bien aimé nos balades dans la foret qui est près de la maison, et il a pris gout à faire des randonnées plus longues.
A plusieurs reprises, il a pu faire connaissance de mes amis, et il a même fait un bon repas, typiquement brésilien, on était 6 pour apprécier son Bacalhau (la morue).
Nous avons parlé uniquement en anglais, le français ou l’allemand était insuffisant pour une conversation et il n’a pas voulu profiter pour améliorer son niveau de langue. Nous avons échangé sur les différentes coutumes dans nos pays et c’était très intéressant.
Miguel est un homme discret et poli et il a très bien respecté les règles de la maison. Pour finir ce séjour, nous avons passé un bon Noël en compagnie de 4 autres personnes, les étudiants de Chine et d’Egypte, et cela fut un bon moment.
Je souhaite à Miguel de continuer ses expériences en tant que « helper », pour être de plus en plus à l’aise dans les travaux manuels.

Miguel spent 3 weeks in my house and we had a very good contact and understanding. Miguel is a very kind man, always ready to help and concerned about doing the job right. We worked a little bit in the garden (it's winter, so there's not much to do) but he's good at using the Kärcher and even if he doesn't know much about gardening, he's open to learn and to do it well.
I also had some painting to do in an apartment that I rent, and it was a first experience for Miguel. He did his best to do it well, even if it took a lot of time.
In the afternoon and during the week-end he was interested in a tour of the city of Poitiers and we also spent a whole day, together with two Egyptian students, exploring the surroundings of Poitiers, we went to a Christmas concert and a ciné-Concert: two movies from Chaplin and Buster Keaton with live music.
Miguel enjoyed our walks in the forest near the house, and little by little he liked to do longer hikes.
On several occasions, I invited my friends, and he even made a good meal, typically Brazilian, we were 6 to enjoy his good Bacalhau.
We spoke only in English, le level of French or German was not enough for a conversation and he did not want to take advantage to improve his language level. We exchanged on the different customs in our countries and it was very interesting.
Miguel is a discreet and polite man and he respected the rules of the house very well. To finish this stay, we spent a good Christmas evening with 4 other people, students from China and Egypte.
I wish Miguel to continue his experiences as a helper, to be more and more comfortable with manual work.
