Hi!
We are a 23 year old couple from the mountains of Colorado and are both on the working holiday visa in NZ . We spent the first half of our visa living in Wanaka and working hospitality jobs. Now, we are living out of our van and are looking to do more environmental work for the rest of our time here. We are both very passionate about sustainable living and agriculture. We love the outdoors and going on adventures in this beautiful country. We are both hard workers, very friendly, and happy to help however we can!

I am a passionate environmentalist, naturalist, animal lover, and artist. I'm very adventurous, open-minded, and am always looking for new experiences and perspectives. I graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz with a degree in environmental studies. I have experience in field work, plant restoration, and animal care. Then I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India as well as my level 3 sound healing certification. Since then I have been working and traveling on and off. I have done work aways previously in Costa Rica and Nepal and am now hoping to do some here in NZ with Koa. I am especially happy to help with any art projects and anything with plants or animals.

More about Koa:
As a 23 year old from Colorado I am currently traveling around Aotearoa with Olivia in our van. We started in Wanaka where we worked in hospo for 4 months. I have a bachelors degree in psychology and many years of hospo experience. Leaving Wanaka we are looking for new experiences oriented more towards nature and getting our hands dirty. My interests for workaway are to learn new skills, contribute to building something, and meet new people! I have a permaculture design certification and spent 2 months living on a permaculture farm in Costa Rica. I really want to further my education in this field and gain more experience, with the goal of having my own homestead one day. Additionally, I have some experience in construction and am willing and able to do lots of heavy lifting and sweating! I also love to cook for other people.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I have a degree in environmental studies and during school mainly focused on agroecology, environmental justice, animal conservation, and restoration. I took two quarter-long field courses that gave me hands-on experience in the field with plants, animals, and the greater environment. I have worked in animal care at an animal hospital as well as a doggy daycare. I also interned at a restoration site where I got hands-on experience with planting, land maintenance, and greenhouse work. I have years of customer service experience so know how to be outgoing as well. In high school, I worked as a junior counselor at summer camps so I have experience teaching and caring for children.

Additionally, I grew up traveling and have experience learning about different cultures and immersing myself in new perspectives and lifestyles. I am also an artist, I mostly draw and paint and would love to share this creativity with others. I will also be a certified yoga teacher by the time I'll be doing work away and would love to share this practice with others as well. I am a flexible hard worker and like to stay positive and open-minded.
