Hi fellow workawayers!
My name is Mara Malaika, I am 18 years old and freshly out of high school, I'm taking a gap year before the start of my studies in September 2025. Being half Tanzanian this year is an incredible opportunity for me to learn about my mother's culture and language. Being on my own in this beautiful country since November 2024 I would love to meet some people to travel with and discover these incredible cultures with. I was raised in a multicultural household (Tanzanian, German) whilst living in France. My mother being an English teacher I got the amazing ability of speaking 4 languages. Having studied in a cinema high school I am passionate with the cinematic world as well as with literature. I am also very fond of basketball and running. I am very open to getting to know new people as well as new cultures. My dream for this gap year would be to find a travel buddy to visit plenty of places in Tanzania with and using my camera to document our experience!

Having studied in a cinema high school I know my way around the cinematic world and the filming as well as drama aspect. I’m half German and Tanzanian and live in France. I speak 4 languages: French, German, Swahili and English. I am passionate about literature and movies. I have a YouTube channel and love to film my various experiences. Many people have told me in the past that I take great pictures.
