Hi there! I'm Manuela (31), a languages👩‍🏫, yin yoga 🧘‍♀️, storytelling 📖 and creativity👩‍🎨 teacher and a business manager from Colombia ☕🦋⛰️.

I can help you in your tourism project/hotel/hostel with the management, marketing, social organization or content creation. I can also be a language or yoga teacher for children, teenagers or adults and/ or help you with housesitting/pet sitting, doing gardening and cooking or helping around the house/hotel.

As you can read, I am a versatile person. I am spontaneous, energetic, social, lively, playful, kind and curious. I have a profound respect, love and devotion for nature 🌲🐝 and I also love children 🧒, animals 🐶🐴🐱 and plants🌿🌱; and I'm passionate about exploration, arts, cultures, music, photography📷🏞️, ancestral wisdom, and the beauty and strength of life 🌌🌹.

A lot of things make me happy, for example, when I share quality time with my loved ones or with new friends; when I play instruments, sing or dance; when I listen to amazing stories; when I walk through nature or the city and appreciate beautiful landscapes or new city treasures such as cultural centres, cinemas, cafés or bookstores.

My hobbies often vary between having breakfast outdoors while reading or writing, I regularly practice yoga, meditate and I love contemplating nature, doing gardening, cooking meals together with my family, having a coffee and good/deep conversations about life with a friend at a café or an outdoors environment, going to the cinema or to cultural events, listening to music, playing guitar, ukelele or shamanic drums. I often escape from the city to visit natural places, especially where I can ride bicycle, ride horse, do trekking, or bathe in rivers or the sea.

My main motivations are to get to know myself and the world better, continue to cultivate my creative practices and good relationships, and share the best of me: my creativity, empathy, altruism, joy, and my knowledge in languages, creative storytelling & yin yoga. I'm always open to learn new things and embrace new experiences.

In this moment of my life I'd be really glad to provide both languages and Yin Yoga lessons (a very special yoga practice focused in the emotional wellbeing). I teach Spanish, English, Portuguese and/or French, with methods mainly based on storytelling, games and self-knowledge, (or according to the student's needs). I also carry an aromatherapy kit to accompany the yoga sessions for the part of the final relaxation in case my students are interested, otherwise I can just provide the yoga classes with the postures along with an initial and a closure meditation.

Quais são suas habilidades?

My expertise: languages, yin yoga, storytelling, and creativity.

Educational Background:
I have a degree in Business Management, a Master's in Transmedia Storytelling, professional training in Language Teaching and Education, and a 50-h Yoga Alliance Certification in Yin Yoga. I've also learned about painting and artistic installations. In 2022, I studied at the School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe, a non-profit organization dedicated to the imaginative exploration of art, technology, design, and human connection in Berlin, Germany.

Strengths:
Empathy, responsibility, management, communication and leadership. Highly proficient in Spanish, English and Portuguese, very good at French, and verbally fluent in Italian.

My volunteer/work/travel experience:
In 2019, I worked 6 months as a volunteer teacher in a community grassroots project in Medellin, Colombia with Glot, a local Foundation focused on language education, where I learned the importance and value of contributing to and learning from local projects and vulnerable communities. I also worked as a translator volunteer for Peace Brigades International from 2017 to 2019.

I have 8+ years of experience being a language teacher/mentor for children, teenagers &adults. I have also worked as a scriptwriter, proofreader, translator, and interpreter. In 2019 I co-authored a national award-winning interactive book and published two international academic papers.

I have an adventurous and joyful spirit, I've been to several countries and have lived for short periods in Miami, U.S; Ottawa, Canada; Tours, France; Berlin, Germany, São Jose do Rio Preto, Brazil; and for longer periods in Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, Colombia, my natal country.
