  • Descrição

    Hello,

We are a couple: Luísa (26, f) and Diana (31, f). We live together and have two cats, Sadie and Mushy. We are artisans and sell hand-crafted items at markets.
We work great together but also enjoy our alone time.

We both enjoy travelling, nature and exploring trails. In our free time, we like to go to the countryside and discover new places. We have also done DIY projects on our flat: we painted walls, sanded and painted all our kitchen cabinets, did grouting, etc. We are currently renovating it before embarking on our next adventure!

We are ready to take the next step and learn about farm work and the path to become self-sufficient. We are looking to spend some time in a place we can learn more about gardening, permaculture, farming, animal care and sustainable living. No skill is irrelevant or too much for us.

    About Luísa:

I'm Luísa, a 26-year-old girl from the south of Portugal. Growing up, my time was split between the beautiful countryside and a small seaside town. When I was in the countryside, I could spend hours just following a line of ants. Life was simple but joyful. I moved to the town permanently when I was 10 years old. It's very beautiful here; we're surrounded by the river, the sea, sandy beaches, wetlands, salt marshes, and a pine forest.
But I grew up dreaming of seeing more! Slowly, my lifetime dream became to travel the world.
In 2016, when I was 19 years old, I went to London to study at a university. Anthropology was the subject I chose to study. At the time, I was (and still am) fascinated by by the miracle that is humankind—how did we come to be? And I am grateful I got to study human diversity. During my undergrad, I made friends from all around the world that I cherish to this day. I learned how to adapt to a new country and make ends meet, and I have so many good memories I hold dear. I went on to do a master's in anthropology and the environment. More recently, in 2021, I came back to my home town in Portugal due to the pandemic and stuck around as a close family member got sick, and I wanted to be here with them. In the meantime, I finished my master's online, and I studied UX design.
A couple years ago, I bought a car and organised my first ever road trip, along with Diana—a total of 2,000km—to a national park in the north of the country.
Along with Diana, I became an artisan and started going to summer markets to sell my art. We live in a touristic region that gets very busy in the summer. I also do vector art with images of people's pets and make personalized items.

    A bit about Diana:
    "Hi!!
I'm Diana, I'm 30 years old and from the south of Portugal.
I studied translation in Lisbon, but I am from a charming fishing town called Vila Real de Santo António.
I am fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. I tried to learn Norwegian and Italian at my university, but it wasn't enough time to learn these languages properly.
Once I graduated, I moved to Dubai to be a flight attendant for Emirates.
Even though it was a great opportunity, I really missed living close to nature and the simple things in life. After I left Dubai, I went back to Portugal, where I taught English and Portuguese to Erasmus+ students. I also worked as a receptionist and as a tourist guide.
These last 3 years, I have been working as an artisan alongside Luísa. I make personalised pet mugs, jewellery, keychains, pyrography and I also do some painting.
Even though I really enjoy making crafts, my long-term dream is to have a farm, a safe haven for all the animals who need a home. Therefore, I want to learn more about the land and animals and how to care for them.
Animals and nature are my true passion! I love traveling and exploring the wilderness, and one of my biggest dreams is to visit the stunning wilderness of North America.
I think Workaway will be a great opportunity to see beautiful places, meet new people, experience new adventures, and learn new skills, as well as provide help with the skills I already have."
